All I want for bluesky Christmas is for DM’s to not cut off the last few lines of the latest message on mobile. So frustrating

There is so much here but been to point to it not all being this way a lot of writings from NT Wright help reorient to seeking good of neighbor, community, poor, and truly seeking to make the world a better place by serving people in their need not a means to an end.

The more time I spend in these conversations/thinking the more I truly believe most expressions of faith in Christian circles simply have very little to say about hope or good things to devote themselves too that isn't condemning people or the hope of being whisked away to heaven one day.

The circles 'christians' will go in to defend the advantaged man who has not been developed is one of the greatest discouragements to me. As someone who follows the way I give many waking hours to thinking and discussing why mainstream evangelical belief rarely expresses itself in the ways it should

Wow. Incredibly jealous. part of my inner child wants to have a game store one day just to provide the experience to other kids I had and be surrounded by games 😂

two additional patterns I want to be illegal

1. the chrome 'login in with' extension that hijacks any windows you are own until you exit it
2. the stupid popup drawer like on reddit where it asks you if you want the mobile app or continue in browser. Like, my friend, I am on the browser...

I have to imagine that (and I say this not in jest but as a realization) Standards folks right now with the cloudflare outage primarily due to mitigating vulnerability React Server Components is kind of a 🤷‍♂️ moment for standards teams/folks.

I recently bought all the Captain Underpants books I had as a kid. Were truly some of the first fun 'books' I remember reading. Dog man is probably better haha

I am so confused by what I am seeing/reading by many over on X. What have people actually seen within AI to think a "singularity" is being approached? What have people actually seen to make them think all that is in the future is humans fighting to survive against AI?

I know it can go both ways but if the individual is caught up trying to check if it is AI or not rather than understanding the quality of what is being delivered that should not be an additional burden on the creator to answer

Watching someone try to get good at a skill to be mistaken as AI has me reflecting.

If you are pursuing craft with tender love and care you DONT OWE ANYONE an explanation if they mistake it for AI

Random musings when you have too much time

It causes quite the irritation in my that “apart” and “a part” are separated by a space and have complete opposite meanings

Also, if “a part” is brought together to “apart” wouldn’t “apart“ more intuitively be understood as joined? And the opposite for “apart” being split to “a part”.

AI is a race to the bottom, in the way most ppl are using it.

To get the most out of it I feel you do have to be really solid in your field. Sure things that are monotonous and should be automated should.

But for craft?

Just all my thoughts. Working through the book.

AI promises mastery. Its deeply deceptive because it does things which otherwise to you feel like magic IF you do not already have mastery over the subject

So then we just chalk it up to AI can do it

Im not arguing against using AI at all but as humans we have a deep need to master a skill

I’m sure this is a AI realization many others have had

The greatest deception I feel I’m seeing is the promise of turning AI users into masters of many crafts

@alexhillman.com’s “Tiny MBA” (which you should buy this for a gift this week) recommended Cal Newports “So Good They Can‘t Ignore You”

Growing more and more convinced by the day that there is an incredible amount of people making good money by lying to others about their “methods” and “scripts” and “playbooks”

Give people a false promise they will pay you and then those same people are used as “evidence” that it works.

Lastly a community to collaborate on effectively moving to web standards as an industry

The narratives around leaving react, ”standards people” and so on are all done mostly it seems in poor faith, little hope, or lack of belief ”the other side will listen”

Would love to see it reversed

Three community ideas for bluesky people to help me process:

A course creators community. Just somewhere to share ups downs, and whats working and not. Thinking developer specific

A community to simply inspire and bring to light what’s possible with code. I get so bored with so much

So many things I read, particularly from orgs that review books, are things like “I wish the author addressed ___.”

Ok but let’s not take away from what is being said. Wishing for everything to be addressed is wishing for someone to say nothing at all

My greatest hope for Christian authors and orgs that review books is that they would know the author is under no obligation to address the full extent of biblical doctrines when saying any one thing

As a reader, my hope is to hear what is being said and not immediately say “but what about?!”

What specifically about Deno Fresh 2.0? I just checked the website and don’t see anything related to PWA’s

I've been looking at workbox a good bit today so maybe a journey will begin for me. idk haha

this is by far the nicest one I have used. Wish the implementation was just a package as a vite plugin or something. would make things so nice.
