Perennial reminder that desire is not consent.
Just because someone likes the idea of something, or even wants it, does not mean they want it here, now, or with you.

Adding this to the cooked book :P
Call that⦠pulled pup!
Yup!
When hypnotized, you're often calm & relaxed, but above all, FOCUSED... Usually on the words of the hypnotist. If you've ever been reading a good book & lost track of time, that's the same phenomenon
A hypnotic suggestion that tells you to cover up your stress & feel calm despite what's boiling under the surface can cause more harm than good. Hypnosis can help with work stress, but a hypnotized person won't drift through endless workdays in blissful blankness
Generally, a subject will know they're hypnotized. It is possible to hypnotize someone covertly, but that's a complicated mess of ethics and consent. It CAN be done, but in many situations SHOULDN'T be.
Play safe and do the right thing.
Unintended consequences often take the form of secondary and tertiary effects, rather than primary ones. It can be helpful to think about the potential ripple effects of decisions when considering the safety/risk profile of an activity or scene.
This is by far the best such resource Iβve encountered. Thank you!
Iβm a bit late to the party but yes
Good night fellow fox!
Good morning! And happy pride month to you too!
Something that reliably breaks a scene for me is being told (or it being implied) I donβt have a choice. Of course I have a choice. I chose to follow you. If you donβt see or value that, and feel like you need to take it by force or trickeryβ¦ then you donβt understand me well enough to be in charge.
I see a lot of people engaged in play or role-play in public or semi-public settings where anyone watching will only see the technical and fantasy parts of the scene, and where any attempt to get people to clarify the safety/consent parts is met with hostility. Fixing that would be a good start.
Normalize showing and talking about the negotiation and safety stuff along with all the teasy storytelling.
Normalize people checking in and both with their subjects and others.
In general make it harder for predators to blend in with whatβs visible common practice.
Remember, consent is the most important thing to learn. Be it in kink, roleplay, daily life things or in general. Learning to give and revoke consent can be hard, but is also the most freeing thing you can do to empower yourself.
When hypnotizing someone
Using text
It's good
To keep the lines short
Because it helps with pacing
And also
Because short phrases
Are easy to understand
Easy to follow
Without losing focus
And it's focus
That makes it work
Thatβs really good advice. You can also use the change in cadence it creates as an anchor for that feeling of attentive focus, just like with a βhypnotist voiceβ.
This is your regular reminder to keep therapy out of your play. If you're doing hypnosis to SOLVE or FIX something, you're probably causing harm. Recreational hypnosis is fun - everyone should try it. But don't do therapy unless you're a therapist, and don't mix work with play
Things are always changing. Stick around long enough and theyβll eventually change for the better.
As far as realistic hypno scenes go, yours are actually fairly concise I think.
You write some of the best and most accurate to real life hypno scenes of anyone currently doing it. I think if you like it, thereβs absolutely no reason to change it just because other people do it differently.
A series of Tumblr posts: The old magic persists thanks to its unfathomable power." No, the old magic persists because the new magic can't run the legacy spells I need to do my job, and keeps trying to install spirits I don't want or need onto my orb. Look, if the new magic didn't have a personality construct that kept trying to tell me which spells to use, maybe I wouldn't still be using the old magic. Yes it had a deep blood cost, but at least it was a one time sacrifice and not this monthly bloodletting nonsense new age magic has The old magic is robust enough to survive a decade of use and it's compatible with every wand, staff, scroll, and charm in our collection. The new magic stops working after three days and every spell uses proprietary runes. Our preferences, as an archiving institution, should be pretty clear. You try to get guidance for the new magic and the king's sorcerers maybe will answer you in a few days with an unhelpful suggestion to buy the newest orb. You need guidance for the old magic and a dozen retired middle-aged wizards will pop up to explain it to you rune by rune if necessary.
All of these spoke to me, deeply.
If an observer canβt tell by looking whether a (public) scene is safe or consensual, thatβs an issue independent of whether or not itβs actually safe and consensual.
I think everyone should be encouraged to speak up when thereβs uncertainty because the alternative is a community where people donβt.
Itβs generally bad for the community when people get punished for bringing up legitimate concerns, even really awkwardly.
Good night!
I love the color palette on this! Also good night!
lol
lol thatβs great. Very effective Iβm sure!
