A long view of the snow-covered Humber River looking toward the marsh. The sun is high but warmer temperatures have given the light a softness.
Humber River #unfiltered
The photograph captures an old, weathered house standing on a grassy hill, exuding an atmosphere of decay and abandonment. The house is the primary subject, its structure revealing signs of significant disrepair. The wooden exterior is faded and worn, with missing panels and crumbling sections exposing the building's age and vulnerability to the elements. Windows are dark, empty voids. The roof is caving in, with missing shingles and visible structural damage. A brick chimney rises from the center of the roof, adding a touch of verticality to the otherwise dilapidated structure. The house's architectural style appears to be a simple, rectangular design with a steeply pitched roof, typical of rural dwellings from a bygone era. The color palette is muted and earthy, dominated by the brown tones of the weathered wood and the green hues of the overgrown vegetation. The lighting is soft and diffused, casting long shadows and enhancing the sense of melancholy. The house sits atop a hill covered in tall, dense green grass, creating a stark contrast between the man-made structure and the natural environment. The grass is thick and untamed, suggesting a lack of maintenance and further emphasizing the state of neglect. A dirt path or gully cuts through the grass, leading towards the house. The sky overhead is overcast and gray, adding to the overall somber mood. The composition of the photograph is carefully balanced, with the house positioned slightly off-center to create a sense of depth and perspective. The texture of the weathered wood, the shaggy grass, and the rough dirt path are all rendered in sharp detail. In the foreground, there is a blurred fence. The atmosphere is one of quiet desolation and decay, evoking a sense of nostalgia and the passage of time. The house stands as a testament to a forgotten past, its weathered facade telling a silent story of abandonment and neglect.
The old Alberta homestead for someone long gone.

Thank you. It was good evening light yesterday that helped.
I heard from my son that it was 5-0. Ouf.
I think they had already closed a lot of stores before this announcement.
Multicoloured red, green pink and maroon hearts are hanging on strings from the ceiling at the top of the picture. There is a light and there are beige walls at the store. In the reflection of the window, there are some branches.

I havenβt been to too many Eddie Bauer stores lately but the last time I went there were so many style and size stockouts . They used to be great at merchandising and supply chain forecasting so itβs sad that those core competencies were de-emphasized.
Iβm not surprised about Eddie Bauer going belly up and filing for a Chapter 11. After their first bankruptcy restructuring in 2003 they converted to a less vertical supply chain which is good during periods of global stability. Less so now. www.cbc.ca/news/busines...

Ebo Taylor, who did for Ghanaian music what his friend Fela Kuti did for Nigeria, has been called the greatest rhythm guitarist in history.
His son Kweku Taylor:
βThe world has lost a giant, a colossus of African music, leaving behind an unmatched artistry legacy. Dad, your light will never fade.β

#MusicMonday Did you know The Guess Who once wrote jingles for Coca-Cola?
In 1968, Toronto-based musician and jingle-writer Jack Richardson got involved with The Guess Who while he was with McCann-Erickson, the advertising agency for Coca-Cola.
He said:
Snow creature with twigs for arms, tufts of pine needles for antennae (or maybe ears), and facial features consisting of twigs of various sizes. The creature stands on a snowy lawn with bits of two houses in the background.
Snow being.
We are watching the replay of the womenβs 1000m speed skating and I love the live DJ playing disco and Europop and the light show as they clean the ice after every six pairs.
