The wiki is still tracking IPs in the background, as are most websites. It's just no longer public anymore.

And yes, VPNs do make IPs less "unique", but not everyone uses VPNs (I'd say, most people don't) and the IP still allows identification of _which_ VPN someone's using.

With all the new copper blocks added in the latest Minecraft updates, I was wondering: What if all these copper items didn't have ridiculously long names?

Yeah, exactly - most people can easily differentiate pitches (even if they can't name them), just like most people can easily tell colors apart. So if you're tone deaf, a pitch puzzle would be just as difficult as a color-matching puzzle for a colorblind person.
