Ian Mond, Locus: Slatter is a tremendous writer, with a body of work that puts her in the top echelon of contemporary fantasy authors. With AFD, sheβs elevated those skills to another level giving us a work that isnβt just a cracking story richly told, but also connects at a personal intimate level.

My cat Pip rubbing his face against a stack of books I edited. The books are: The Unkillable Princess, A Covenant of Ice, The Desert Talon, The Needfire, Ragwort, The Door on the Sea and The Ganymedan
Proud of all my authors from 2025! And proud of how much I have grown editorially. More from these authors and beyond in 2026

Amnesty International has a great guide for filling in this strategically poorly constructed survey.

Working with MargrΓ©t on Nordic Visions was a brilliantly enriching experience, so Iβm unbelievably excited to be collaborating again on NORDIC NIGHTMARES! Jumped at the chance to help bring this collection of contemporary Nordic horror into the hands of readers worldwide. Fall 2026!

As I try to pick clients, I want to make sure they're people who will actually work well with a human in edits. I can't tell if using aids like Grammarly is an immediate red flag. (Using chatGPT for a full draft/whole process is an obvs no) How have you seen ppl using these programmes?

I do freelance editing in addition to my day job &I am encountering more people using programmes eg ProWritingAid to 'assist' in writing their first drafts before coming to me for dev edits/coaching. Wrt making a decision about taking on a client, I'm not sure what to make of this /1

Me holding up a physical copy of my book The Ganymedan
Inside title page:
The Ganymedan
R.T. Ester
Solaris
Page/excerpt from The Ganymedan:
DEPROG
In the days following Archer Lenox-Pileserβs death, the official account of what happened on the outskirts of Paradox would go unchallenged.
A spacerβa sentient shipβhad unwittingly ferried his assassin to the station. While docked for a refuel, the spacer learned of its error and alerted Martian Patrol. The assassin then broke out of the spacer using a signal skipper and a wedger. He died of vacuum exposure before Patrol arrived.
Every news feed was whipped into endless war speculation by then. The matter of Archer Lenox-Pileserβs final deathβshocking as it may have been when it brokeβvanished in a few weeks.
At Gan, a woman whoβd also been in the news allowed her brother to bring a pair of sentients near her tent. She wept into her palm heels while a song for the killer played, harkening back to ghosts pre-Frontier and past evictions from dome houses they built on Ganymede.
When she could spare some composure for the sentients, she invited them in. They dropped off a device the killer had wanted her to keep, then gave the full account.
In less than a month, my novel The Ganymedan, which combines Altered Carbon with the spacefacing intrigue of The Expanse, will be out in stores. Please consider pre-ordering a copy. If you already have, thank you kindly!
