In a field as competitive as frontier AI, this feedback loop if allowed to persist
could result in harm well beyond the immediate consequences of the government's actions.
Training and serving frontier-level models like Claude requires extraordinary computational resources. Anthropic has already spent over $10 billion on model training and inference (serving the model to end users) and expects to spend many billions more in the coming years. Although the company has generated substantial revenue since entering the commercial market exceeding $5 billion to date—it has nonetheless had to raise more than $60 billion in outside capital to fund its operations. Anthropic has raised this capital by issuing investors equity stakes in the company.
Based on their lawsuit filed against the DoD, Anthropic appears to be admitting that reports about its revenue and costs are fake, saying its revenue to date “exceeds $5bn” and training/inference “over $10bn.” Previous reports said $4.5bn.

Books Are Meant to Be Slow
The erosion of deep reading weakens our capacity to grasp complex ideas.
“If deep reading cultivates empathy,” Joel Halldorf writes, “the attention-fracturing, dopamine-hitting, scroll-spurring design of digital media often undermines it”:

When people say Lynchian or whatever it's always the strobe lights and the surrealism and the whooshing ambient dread, and never that scene in Twin Peaks when Ben and Jerry excitedly eat too much bread and deliver their dialogue through gobs of gluten

Richard Thomas: Incarnate. Spider monster, flower, snow against black background.
My (Hungarian) translation of Incarnate by @richardthomas.bsky.social is up for preorder: multiverzumkiado.hu/book/richard...
Arctic weird. I worked on it through the winter. This is my first novel length translation, but it was a good fit for me, especially after Dunsany, Barron, etc...

The Indignities of Being a Woman
Check out this great listen on Audible.com. It’s the 21st Century. Why the hell are women - 51% of the population - being treated like second class citizens? The Indignities of Being a Woman candidly...
It's INTERNATIONAL Women's Day! and being an international woman, it is appropriate for me to recommend this audio book I made a few years ago with my friend, Megan Koester (@bornferal).It will tell you A LOT about how civilization has treated women since way back.
