Everyday, abortion providers show up to give compassionate care and create safe spaces for their patients against all odds. They listen to their patients' stories, feel their emotions, and help them get the care that is right for them. Today, thank an abortion provider for changing & saving lives.

Q: Is it reversible? A: A vasectomy is considered a sterilization and is meant to be permanent. Reversing a vasectomy is an option, but it doesn't always work and is not always covered by insurance. These procedures can be costly and with no promise they will restore your fertility. [6/π§΅]

Q: Does it work right away? A: No. It will take approximately 90 days after a vasectomy for ejaculate to be sperm-free. During that time, another form of birth control is necessary to prevent pregnancy. After 90 days, we will do a sperm analysis to make sure the vasectomy was successful. [5/π§΅]

Q: What happens during the procedure? A: During the procedure, the small tubes called vas deferens are disconnected, preventing sperm from entering the semen* and causing pregnancy which canβt happen when there is no sperm to meet the egg.
*This does not impact erectile function or ejaculation [4/π§΅]

The FDA recently approved self-testing methods for HPV, which causes cervical cancer, and our research with Teal Health helped it possible. Self-test options matter, especially for people who aren't comfortable getting a pelvic exam.
