Been a minute. So gonna drop a few pics today. Have a look at the Three Shastas: Shasta Dam, Shasta Lake, and Mount Shasta.

Anyway, I got a weekend off after a couple of 12-day hitches. When people talk about how government doesn’t work, I’d like to have them come to fire camp.
At one point we had 1900 people at camp for the Green Fire. The logistical challenge of organizing and running these camps - as well as fighting the fire - is immense. But it gets done on the ground, in the air and on the water.
Heck of a month. Worked four fires, with two of em getting the most attention. Plenty of long days, but not as hard as the folks pulling 14-day swings on the fire line. Anyway, some pics on the trap line and at camp…

Ozzy made headlines, sometimes for the wrong reasons. But Sabbath was groundbreaking, and you can’t listen to tracks from Blizzard of Ozz, or hear ‘No More Tears,’ or any number of songs in his career and not feel the weight of one of the godfathers of metal. RIP Ozzy. Horns up.
As a kid I was a metal head, and all those Ozzy tunes were huge in those circles. Anyone with an affinity for heavy metal music knows that the genre doesn’t exist without Black Sabbath and it’s wildman vocalist Ozzy Osborne.
First day off after 12 straight at work. At the gym feeling the effects of that but otherwise taking my down time seriously. Fire season is no joke.
Fire season off to a fast start
It is amazing, the work that goes into this field. Here’s hoping we never have another Carr Fire.
So far, the Sierras are clear. You’re good to go, but keep an eye on the possibility of storms. Lightning strikes really threw us for a loop this week. Any lightning event down there could change conditions in a hurry.
Some sweet scenery on Shasta Lake, but you can also make out the haze from a nearby fire, the Green Fire. Fire season starting with a bang.

Little late with these, but a couple weeks back our firefighters went through their readiness review: exercises designed to simulate wildfire scenarios. In one exercise, live fire was used. Very cool couple of days, and privileged to be there. The SHF firefighters are ready for fire season.
