Then again, if we all talk about the fact that we are at a heightened risk for some sort of asymmetric response on our own soil, then perhaps the next short step is more deployment of federal armed forces domestically. Which is I’m sure what we all want. Damned either way I guess.
It seems pretty obvious and common sense that an attack on Iran would generate a response from it, its proxies, and its sympathizers. It almost needs to go without saying.

I think DC should be divided into 535 quadrants and each assigned one congressional member, who will be responsible for ensuring that people‘s trash and recycling is taken out on time and their sidewalks are cleared of snow and ice within 24 hours. The senators maintain the schools and parks.

I first saw that term recently as well and, perhaps cause it was new to me (?), I read it US Asians. Which felt really wrong. Regardless of how one defines it, the term sort of seems inelegant.
I think it’s a pretty mainstream position among the Democratic Party that the effort to support Israel has been misused by Israel’s current leadership. It will be interesting to see how that dynamic is unwound going forward.
I don’t believe it is fair or accurate to call establishment (by that I assume you mean old school) Democrats fascist. I believe that, if anything, they are heavily allied with corporatist economic interests, and many of those interests have bent to fascists as a means of continuing to make money.
The cost of a gallon of diesel has gone up over 25% in the last five days. I used to be able to find it at about $3.64 or less anywhere on the Virginia eastern shore, now it’s $4.59 or more everywhere I look.

That is a very good thing. When I think back to the 80s, I remember how my parents (who were born in the 30s and his parents went through the Great Depression) could have been considered fiscally conservative, but socially liberal. To me that was the Republican party.
Sometimes I feel like I’m walking along 14th Street DC back in the 90s listening to random street preachers fervently shouting into megaphones about this or that thing that they passionately believe in but which 99.9% of passersby have nothing to do with.

100%. I live on the eastern shore of Virginia and express my thoughts on redistricting and our upcoming congressional race in forums related to that contest. It’s my hope that Kiggins will be replaced by Luria. And I have a vote in this.

When I think of the Republican Party of today, it is so vastly different than it was. What is less clear to me is how the Democratic Party has changed as a result beyond being more fiscally conservative and corporatist.
I feel like, starting with Clinton, the Democratic Party in America has gradually co-opted the more palatable aspects of the Republican Party, along with it many of it voters. So the R’s focused on appealing to the parts of the D’s that it had targeted in Nixon‘s southern strategy.
