Childhood fluoride exposure and cognition across the life course
Childhood fluoride exposure is associated with higher academic achievement in high school.
The amount of fluoride added to drinking water is not only safe, it may have a positive effect. All the studies they are referencing looked at much higher levels of fluoride (usually naturally occurring) than are added to drinking water in the US.

"We find that children exposed to recommended levels of fluoride in drinking water exhibit modestly better cognition in secondary school, an advantage that is smaller and no longer statistically significant at age ~60."

If you live in the US, you're most likely going to Miss Minutes tonight...

Jesting, McCain Sings: 'Bomb, Bomb, Bomb' Iran
Republican presidential contender Sen. John McCain (AZ) joked about bombing Iran this week during a campaign appearance in Murrells Inlet, S.C.
In retrospect, I think this may have been one of the major reasons John McCain didn't become president.
Republican voters clearly don't particularly care about an ignorant, incompetent pick for VP (or pres).

A page from 1984, by George Orwell:
ration did not start till tomorrow and he had only four cigarettes left.
For the moment he had shut his ears to the remoter noises and was listening to the stuff that streamed out of the telescreen. [begin highlight] It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week.
Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it. [end highlight]
Parsons swallowed it easily, with the stupidity of an animal. The eyeless creature at the other table swallowed it fanatically, passion-ately, with a furious desire to track
He'll just say that "gas prices have come DOWN to $7 a gallon this summer"

It sounds like he's saying people should just eat dog food... but have you bought canned dog food lately? It's not cheap either!
Also, if you eat liver as your main protein source and you eat as much protein as he recommends, your skin will fall off from vitamin A poisoning.

Death by Nutrition
How an antarctic scientific expedition turned deadly thanks to an unlikely source: dog liver.
Given the amount of beef that Americans generally eat, it doesn't seem like it would be healthy to replace it with liver... you'd think the guy who went to a dog barbecue would have read this particular story at some point:
