A lovely wander around Huggate. Catching the view at the poetry bench, good company from our four-legged pals, and tea with a tree. If only every Sunday was this chilled.

I’m co-hosting a #CopywritersUnite night on Monday 1 September, from 6.30pm at The Windmill, on The Cut near Waterloo.

CopywritersUnite nights are informal drinks with copywriters and copy lovers. No tickets, no agenda, no speakers. It’s free to come along – we buy our own drinks.

Hope to see you!

Now there’s a sentence I never thought I’d write!

Woofy hiding beneath the potted plants on this stupendously steamy hot solstice.

a man is laying on a bed with the words life moves pretty fast on the bottom Alt: Matthew Broderick as the movie character Ferris Bueller is laying on a bed with his hands behind his head. At the bottom of the screen are the words 'life moves pretty fast if you don’t stop & look around once in a while you could miss it!'

40 years ago today, Ferris Bueller took a day off

1. This makes me feel really old

2. Life does indeed move pretty fast – so today I’m going to follow Bueller's lead and stop and look around so I don’t miss it

The ruins of the Wanstead Park grotto, seen through the bars of a green metal fence. There’s a green child-sized wellington boot stuck upside down on the fence. The grotto has a large archway in it with three smaller arches above which give the impression of a face with a big wide open mouth.

Such a beautiful day for a morning walk.

The highlight was spotting this welly boot on the fence in front of the Wanstead Park grotto. From a certain angle it looks like the grotto’s about to eat it. Or is that just me?!
