I suppose it's the best word to use in this scene, where Borlo climbs the Lonicera only to fall and have a meet-cute with the princess's pet (which could technically eat a human).
Legend says he sings 'call me when you try to wake her up' in the chorus, but I've listened to the song countless times and I still don't hear that, and I have no clue what I hear....

An update from the princess herself near the end makes Dassan have this meta-question. Which isn't about me as the writer, but as 'the boy who read a whole temple library' it's just his kind of metaphor.
He may be too pessimistic too, but you don't know when you're one of the MCs..

A literal trap like a bear trap is used to sabotage the trials, and Dassan chooses to help the boy who was insulting him seconds ago instead of running on.
What he gets is more insults...
(Miu is a leopard-cat, an animal with a size in between a lynx and a cheetah, and possibly a better protector of the princess than Spenaz with a sword could be, even though he does his best...)

The Imperial Crown Princess Hanada is known to have a face like a mask and never show her feelings. The Hanada Borlo accidentally meets doesn't have the energy to play it like that at that hour of night, and has some pretty dark humour...

No beams it seems, so I'll go with radiate for the story of Dassan.
Whatever his background and his reputation oversees, in the story he'll be a rather chill dude who can adapt to the matriarchal empire of Yanipol, unlike the Ankan highborn members of parliament here.
It's a main theme in the story, and there is a great distance between the official image of a member of the Yanipolite imperial family and the actual person behind it, if there even is one left...
(In the case of Hanada there might be conflict between both too.)

Awkward for both sides, and after everything the sheltered crown princess has heard about men Dassan's freeze reaction is probably the last thing she ever expected.
Without Borlo there probably wouldn't even have been a conversation...

The building where the emperor lives (actually he's just the emperor-consort/first husband of the empress) is massive and enormous, but Dassan finds the harem quarters creepy, also because none of them is supposed to be there... This place could be his future though...
The two most unplayable songs (on guitar and vocals) from REM's 'automatic for the people' are 'ignoreland' and 'the sidewinter sleeps tonight', or is that just me?
