yup I already added volume to the rigging.

So now we really moved beyond low poly, I did this ... cuz it loooks good. But also because 3D printing looks better with it and you don't see the geometry angles so much.
So no textures for me.. But procedural geometry timbers on the hull.
Take your normal map and stuff it up your strakes..
Geometry is free... baby!!!
Just as a reminder, this isn't my first rodeo in procedural generation for games. This is the kind of thing #bulwark players get up to nowadays. And when shipshaper exports to Bulwark, this is going to be an ecosystem of game creation ;)
thanks for the name ;)
I am delighted its gotten some traction.. this industry is brutal and felt it this last year tbh. the Falconeer Remaster didn't move the needle.
so this is a win I happily accept ;)
I haven't digested everything around shipshaper yet but there is something there that I enjoy making and fits me.. it's as experimental and minimalist as ever , but this time that doesn't seem to bother anyone .
Which is nice. Like really..nice
I am evolving the Shipshaper demo ( it has not reached its final form, by far).
But that's buoyed by nextfest actually not stopping. Yesterday delivered a cool 999 wishlists.
I had thought the boat genre was saturated, but perhaps it's not saturated with what folks want.
so the new controls allow you to change the decking and combine various rivets and struts to decorate.
had a lovely chat, turned into a lovely article by @lootlevelchill.bsky.social
I have the key. It's just that I hate this. This isn't a laptop, I didn't ask for this security layer.
And the fucking website isn't even mobile friendly..
slapping down those controls ;)
hahaha,, well they're service over email has been swift, gotta send the unit off.
yeh its the livingroom small one, managed to get my work from today saved.. but the unit is likely fried, the NVMe will be fine , but that's not the cost.
it has an external psu. so tis the connector that fried
a atoman minisforum small form nuc-like pc
My little minisforum literally fried . I plug in its power plug and I can hear the crackle and smell the burn.
God in today's age this is a bad thing. I mean fuck this was a 8 months old .
Pray something can be salvaged.
yeh shipshaper is basically a creative tool, something enjoyable to make something, but not a main course gamewise .. it's gonna slot into a lot of things;)
But all of this is just the opening shot for a big narrative open world sailing adventure to prequel the other falconeer chronicle games .
That will be 'ancient waves'... But that's years away.
Yeh it's done really well in the fest from nothing to 17k wishlists. So pretty good performance and 99% positive .
And that was just a wonky demo.. :).
I guess I will put in some more time and crank out some cool features.
The question remains, should I just chuck the floor full of wacky control interfaces. and never do 2D menus ever again.
I might like that....
Aaah 'decent bloke' that is some strong reputation chops I gotta uphold...
Lovely piece and grateful to be amongst such awesome other devs!!!
Thank you.
Is ,18 fps good or bad on that...
No it's a bit of a mix. With some Hartcoded values.
Legalized online gambling. What wreck of an idea.
its live you can check it out, see if its'alright..
would be good to get all the feedback I can get
no I started on a greyscale color what makes it confusing. but the radial center is saturation/colors and the radial slider is brightness basically.
the color wheel is HS and the radial slider to the left is L
"Tomas you design the color wheel" ...hmmm ok.

A world war thru stupidity. Our own.
Ooh nice. Survival!!
