Certainly I know there’s a love of theater and theatrical staging in Mignola compositions, and for Acheron I’d see your point. But I guess because you mentioned Lands Unknown in your original post, which I think is fairly cinematic in its composition and lighting, I felt some disagreement.
All these things are very true! But not inherently theatrical. In fact that kind of color grading is often more cinematic.
Wrote in detail about this in my Lands Unknown review. Stewart is one of the best to ever do it, but I disagree with you on why. I think his greatness in his skill in knowing where to draw the eye. His Stenbeck work is equal to his Mignola work, truly.
