If you want a replacement fertility rate of 2, but also be supportive of women choosing to be childless, you have to be equally supportive of women with 4+ children, because otherwise the math ain't mathing.

Too many people read about current affairs with the purpose of finding someone they can be mean to.
For every instance of "I was flirting with him and he didn't get the hint",
there's an instance of "Why did he mistake my friendliness for romantic interest?".
Ich wünsche dir bzw. euch eine schöne Reise und bin gespannt, was es hinterher zu berichten gibt.
At a Salsa class, an usual surplus of men would have left 3 leaders without a partner. I spontaneously decided to dance as a follower.
While everyone was supportive of me, one of the male leaders said to me: "So, as which gender should I address you now? Just kidding!"
I didn't find that funny.
If you're making fun of travelers stuck in Dubai: just stop!
Funny how every culture thinks they have invented storing sewing supplies in Danish cookie tins.
Being a disappointed kid because the cookie box has no cookies is an intercultural bonding experience.

When people complain about high taxes in Germany they typically combine taxes and social security. However, social security is the larger chunk, especially healthcare. If this didn't exist, though, you'd probably spend the same money on health insurance, so there wouldn't be more disposable income.
When two people make different choices, each based on their gut feelings, each will then believe their choice was the rational one and the other person was misled by their emotions.
I think a stable society shouldn't have many where doing something is technically illegal but many people are doing it and it's generally accepted. Either legalize it or enforce the rule, no "half-assing".

Thank you for thinking out loud! There are different ways to approach this, of course, depending on your goals. The country-based structure helps highlight what's going on in different countries, inviting people to explore.
The problem with "common sense" is that one's personal sense is not always common.
In a Discovery episode, Captain Lorca praises Elon Musk as a pioneer of space travel. It was before his involvement with MAGA and seems weird for Star Trek today ...
... until you remember that Lorca wasn't a Federation captain; he was an imposter from the evil Terran Empire in the mirror universe.
Hey Mélanie, this is a great initiative! However I'm wondering how much sense it makes to have separate lists per country and not one list with categories which mentions the country. Because I think most people care about EU-based over US, not necessarily the specific country.
"Women are too emotional" ... excuse me, have you seen men?!
My mental model of the world is that we're mostly surrounded by systems that work well 90-95% of the time and people than spin the remaining 5-10% into a narrrative that the whole system is entirely beoken.
If a system can do something good or neutral but can also be abused, it is wise to be aware and try to prevent such abuse.
However, there's a type of person who will always assume that such system only exists to enable that abuse, and I think that's neither a sane nor helpful take.
The huge amount of "content" that is published these days might make you think you need to consume more or have a perfect preselection process to ensure you consume the right things. You'll never catch up either way. Probably the solution is to consume less overall and instead apply and act more.
My latest musical discovery is "Valtos", a band that mixes traditional Scottish music with electronic beats:
A mistake that many people make is to be overly confident that they won't change their mind about something. Yes, you may never change your mind, but you should remain open to the possibility, otherwise you're restricting yourself from growth.
I have zero desire to beat someone or apply any sort of physical violence. I have zero desire to apply any sort of non-physical violence either. In fact, I would prefer if I knew I never caused any other person any discomfort ever. If a person can be a safe space, I want to be that person.
Observation: I can keep drinking nothing but unsweetened tea, but if I decide to sweeten the tea for a variety in taste, the next unsweetened cup tastes extraordinarily bland.
The great thing about Bluesky is that I still see people post about actual coding. On X (Twitter), I practically just see people talking about "oneshotting things with Claude Code".
I spent some time with a 9-year old boy. He told me all the easter eggs that you can unlock in Google search. His favorite is the game that you can access when searching for "bubble tea".
A friend knows Old Greek, Old Hebrew and Latin. She said that it'll be written on her tombstone that "she learned three dead languages, hopefully they'll be useful to her now", and I love her humor!
People will have one conversation with a younger person and then write thinkpieces about the mindset of the entire Gen Z.
Something interesting I've observed: I don't use generative AI for writing because I prefer to come up with every phrase and word myself, whether I write in English or German; but if I need the same text in both languages I will use machine translation because I don't want to do that twice.
From the people who brought you "naan bread" and "chai tea", the hot new dish that's served everywhere is "lentil dal".
