Data centers aren't necessary for web sites. Most data centers are associated with AI or crypto. The former is useless, the latter is a ponzi scheme.
And you don't 'farm' beef.

Amid enshittification, a shout-out for jisho.org, which is still fast, reliable, ad-free, and among the dictionaries I regularly consult when translating. (Sure, it doesn't have the answer I need every time, but nothing does).
just released a new new linux video, this one is very very aesthetics heavy π¦π¦π¦π±π±πΌ

Double Ratchet (used by Signal, iMessage, WhatsApp e2ee) provides provable Post-Compromise Security. However, the end user does not obtain the same guarantees (« conversation PCS ») in practice; that paper shows that there is little hope to reach this security level.
New from 404 Media: we've obtained and published the list of iPhone and Android devices secretive phone unlocking tech Graykey was able, or unable, to get data from recently. Unprecedented leak, we've never seen this granularity from Graykey before www.404media.co/leaked-docum...

Hey
Enough about our horrific past, let's talk about our horrific future www.eff.org/deeplinks/20...
a laptop running memtest86+, showing two errors. a wire pokes out from the lower edge of the laptop, annotated as "antenna wire". an orange cigarette/barbecue lighter sits next to it, annotated as "elite hacking tool"
Can you get root with only a cigarette lighter?
(Yes!)

Tell me again how it would be fine to backdoor encrypted communications systems and how that wouldn't become a honeypot for attacks like this?
If you solder a ~10cm long "antenna" wire to a laptop's DRAM data bus, it makes it extra sensitive to electromagnetic interference.
So much so that clicking a piezo-electric arc lighter nearby can induce bit-flips.
I wrote an exploit to turn those bitflips into a shell:
New from 404 Media: someone put facial recognition on Meta's smart glasses to instantly dox strangers. You look at them, sends face to a facial recognition tool. LLM infers name, sends to people site. Gets phone number, address. I've seen it in action www.404media.co/someone-put-...
Just realised a quick trick using @ellie.wtf's atuin. When writing CLI commands, add a comment at the end describing what they do. They can then be found in atuin by comment text when needed in the future.
