Some cases, maybe, but with a lot of our 1970s stock, in order to install the required ties to do this safely, you certainly can't do it while people are in situ, and there is a good chance of compromising the structure while doing so.

And pre-1970 buildings were not built to modern structural standards, so they cannot be safely extended. Look at the unfolding disaster that is the Eric Estate vertical extension project in Mile End. Another project supported by Mayor Khan.

This is exactly why we need to get rid of landlords. Hundreds of lives ruined at the whim of a billionaire.
