A toddler wearing a blue and gray zip up fleece and brown pants has a hat with the Trails Magazine blaze logo on it, just obscuring his face. It’s way too big to fit his head but no matter.
@trailsmag.net my two year-old knows good fashion when he sees it!

A screengrab of an article I wrote about trail food, featuring a photo of a hand holding a bag of mango leather in front of a beautiful glacier and lake
I’m very excited about the indie publishing model that @trailsmag.net is pursuing, and even more stoked to contribute a short review of the best trail snacks I’ve eaten lately. The pinni and mango lassi leather from Panj River are fueling my trail runs all summer 🏔️

Based on previous covers we’ve run, we’re not especially interested in images from Colorado or the PNW but would welcome shots from the Southeast, Midwest, Northern Rockies, Canada, or Appalachian Mountains (outside of the Northeast), though those are not the only geographic options.

We’re really interested in covers that evoke early season backpacking and springtime in the backcountry. An ultralight or thru-hiking connection would be great fits for this particular issue.

I had the wonderful opportunity to illustrate a full-page spread in issue 9 of Trails Magazine! 🌿🏔️
This piece is part of their Cartograph section and highlights a beautiful backpacking loop through the La Sal Mountains—featuring a hand-illustrated map and five endemic wildflowers

#Freelancers! We’re looking for backpacking food pitches! Alignment with our threads (“efficiency” and “connection”) is great, but not critical. We need recipes as well as stories: Think a profile of a backcountry chef or a review of a unique piece of camp kitchen gear. Email stasia@trailsmag.net!

Contributor Information - Trails Magazine
The focus of Trails is on backpacking and other human/naturally-powered means of sleeping outdoors: bikepacking, canoe camping, even things like rafting or mountaineering are fair game. But remember: ...
#Freelance writers! We're holding a "How to Pitch Trails Mag" info session to share about what we're looking for, how we prefer to be pitched, and lots of thoughts on what makes the ideal Trails Mag story. Plus questions!

The cover of Trails Magaine Issue 8, in a bed of ferns.
An interior spread of Trails Magazine Issue 8, featuring a panoramic image from Washington’s Cascades.
Bluesky saw it first. Issue 8 is absolutely the coolest thing we’ve ever done. Launching tomorrow @trailsmag.net.
