Y'all can show up anytime now, UPS.
Remember when GO commuters respected the quiet zone upstairs on the train? Seems everyone forgot and now itβs awful.
Got the Canadian passport renewal all sorted and in the mail to Gatineau. There's lots of time before I need it to travel next, but not possessing a valid passport is currently making me feel a wee bit uneasy.
UPS tells me that my new computer which Apple said was coming on March 18th, is actually arriving on the 11th. Also seems it was manufactured in Vietnam and not China.
Filled up the car with gas tonight while I can still afford it. What a stupid timeline this is.
Since Strava seems to have killed access to view activities unless logged in with a Strava account, I'll be posting Garmin links instead. 14.3km today in some nice(ish) weather. connect.garmin.com/app/activity...
Honestly I'm just glad Toronto sports media (and fans) are finally just accepting that the Leafs are not making the playoffs.
Shout out to Fellow.ai for being easily the best meeting assistant/recorder/note-taker out there. It's so freaking good I can't imagine not having it. Chef's kiss is that I can access it from Claude as well. Just stuff like "when did we talk about feature x?" saves massive time.
Another run to keep things rolling. VO2Max has started to climb. Up to 47 now. I was in the low 50s last summer, so thatβs the goal. www.strava.com/activities/1...
MacBook Air pre-ordered. It's going to be a long couple of weeks waiting for this thing to arrive. Opted for the most RAM I could do (32GB) and a bigger SSD (1TB). Mostly this was future-proofing for stuff like local AI and the growing size of my Photos library.
I love the reaction to the MacBook Neo. Tech people: this is not a laptop for you. Itβs a cheap starter laptop for kids and grade school students, and itβs perfect for them. Sometimes you build a product to meet a price point and a need.
Samesies. I am looking forward to more full interop with Bluesky, but until then, I guess it's split personalities. I'm trying to post "Canadian" stuff there vs. always cross-posting. Obviously your use case for Gander vs. Bluesky will differ.
Found a bit more pace today and it wasn't at the expense of pushing the heart rate up to Z4. Stayed solidly in Z2 and Z3 throughout. Fitness is returning. www.strava.com/activities/1...
Tomorrow is very likely "order a new MacBook Air" day for me. I've used my current M1 MacBook Air since December, 2025 and while in many ways it is still a very capable machine, things like running local LLMs really show its age. Hoping to get five years out of this new one too.
CNN noting that the US and Israel were able to "hack into traffic cameras" in Iran to track government officials. Meanwhile, in the USA (and elsewhere), they just log in as a user to get the data or just ask Amazon, Google or Flock for the streams or images.
What are the chances that this kicks off a cascading series of announcements that finally end up with us all doing DST year round? globalnews.ca/news/1171316...
Fitness slowly returning. 15km would have been doable today. Maybe next Sunday. www.strava.com/activities/1... #strava #running
This really pisses me off. Mac is an Eastdale grad. toronto.citynews.ca/2026/02/27/t...
Took the day off to do a few errands and also to enjoy a run. In the sunshine. In shorts.
www.strava.com/activities/1...
Took the day off because why not? I have four days left from last year I need to use by the end of March. Plans include going for a run since it's not freezing cold today and getting passport photos taken to sort out the renewal before my next trip.
The Discover feed is fundamentally broken. The more I click "Show less like this" the more it puts in my feed.
Tip: Tell your AI to not use bold text or emojis in its output. Itβs such an obvious tell when co-workers paste AI-created content straight into Slack or Confluence. And read through it and give it a quick edit to humanize the copy. Itβs an assistant to help you do your job, not to do it for you.
Lunch run on sidewalks that haven't been touched in days. @toronto.ca whoever you have contracted to do the sidewalks in Birch Cliff, they didn't show up. Clonmore, Kingston Rd., Birchmount Ave. are all completely snow-covered still. www.strava.com/activities/1...
I deleted the feed. Probably better for me than all that scrolling.
Bluesky algo for "Discover" is nuts. Here's cats! I don't like cats. Seahorses, then? Nope. Mountain waterfalls. Fine. NORTHERN LIGHTS!!!! I've seen enough. Ok ok ok...how about street art. I mean, some street are is nice. ALL THE STREET ART!!!! Enough...something else, please. Retro computing?
I just got my invitation to start using it this week. I signed up a loooong time ago. I think they are ramping up adding new users now so I shouldn't be long.
Iβm over on @gandersocial.bsky.social of any of yβall want to give me a follow there too. Iβm @jameskoole.gander.social and somehow Iβm even more Canadian over there. π¨π¦
Right there with you. Why are four-day weeks that start with the Monday off so long?
Curling is so good. What a game. Off to the gold medal game Canada goes. #canada #olympics
