UAT is vital, remember sometimes the developers miss things and equally can make it harder for the user.

Getting it right is why it’s important to the business and its users. It saves time, effort and money so do it correctly.

Being disabled is already difficult, we can make things easier with thought and insight. Just takes the appropriate moves to do this. Including us into your designing is the utmost importance.

Quite agree! The reason I have some of my tech is simply due to #accessibility.

It doesn’t just come down to tech but the way buildings are designed and how footpaths are made and more.

I live in a so called β€˜adaptable’ home. I struggle in my wheelchair getting through the doors and injure my hands often. If I want them widened I have to pay for it. I cannot afford it. I work, this is why I’d have to pay. I live in social housing.

#Accessibility is fundamental for #independence!

The average council spends 61% of its budget on social care, which is locally funded instead of centrally funded. This means that it is in the financial interest for local councils to not build accessible homes, and if this leads to increased rates of medical complications or hospitalisation........

We need a new term for β€œbest practice”. It feels optional. Like β€œwhat you’ve done is fine, but here’s how others do it.”

In reality, when we say best practice, we mean β€œthis is a definite accessibility barrier, we just can’t log it as a failure in the scope of this standard.”

Quite a shame that the devs left out this key part of having accessible game!

Do better! Accessibility impacts us all, it doesn’t take much to implement, and you’ll find that you’ll most likely sell more copies with it being accessible!

When considering rainbow text, don't forget to consider readability and legibility. Text filled with rainbows can be difficult to read. Same with complex rainbow backgrounds. Putting each word or letter in a different color of the rainbow could force readers to work harder.

Colour Contrast Analyser (CCA) - TPGi TPGi's ADA Color Contrast Checker helps determine the accessibility of the contrast ratio of two colors for WCAG AA and AAA.

People often have difficulty reading content when there isn’t sufficient contrast, so it's important to have high color contrast. TPGi’s free color contrast checker tool allows you to determine the contrast ratio of two colors by using an eye-drop tool.

a cartoon character says i don t understand Alt: A red bodied and grey cartoon character, with a blue nose, says β€˜i don’t understand’. While scratching their head.

Watching YouTube, noticed some countries have their restaurants put tables and chairs on the footpath.

Immediately I’m thinking of people with mobility, sight and other disabilities who would struggle to navigate it. Including children in prams.

How can this not be obvious?

Why the Timms Review Won’t Stop the Planned PIP Cuts The Timms Review is not a win β€” it’s a delay tactic. PIP cuts are still on the table. Here’s what’s really going on and why it’s not over yet.

🚨 #TimmsReview is, at best, a pause. At worst, it’s a strategic delay designed to give the illusion of listening while buying time to repackage and reintroduce the same cuts with a veneer of consultation.@VoxPolitical ⬇️

When you fail your assignment, not because of the content, but because the school changed how you should reference, but never told you! Rules when changed need to be communicated πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

My rant for the day, as I now have to go over some bits to change the references!

Sighted users often use bold or large fonts to create the appearance of headings in documents. People using screen readers have no way of understanding these visual cues. Use heading styles from the styles menu to correctly format headings.

Example, a good few shops I cannot get into, even when I can their isles are too narrow or with product. Train stations some don’t have lifts so I cannot use them, buses have disabled spaces but if they are occupied with prams I cannot get onto the bus. Some websites sometimes are not accessible!

I wasn’t always disabled, I played football, learnt mechanics, responder for the ambulance service etc! Then it changed, but the most hardest part is others NOT accepting my disability or society making it harder.

We do adapt to a point! But having help would be beneficial to all!

Yes, assistive tech is advancing BUT some of it also comes with a hefty price tag that most cannot afford.

Don't use headings to arbitrarily style text. If you apply β€œHeading 4” style, you add a <h4> heading tag to the item. When screen reader users navigate from heading to heading, the item will be treated as a heading. This will be confusing. Only treat actual headings as headings.
