Really nice hearing Seymour on RNZ explaining that we can’t cut fuel taxes because it would cost more in the longrun.
Following the Nats’ messaging on this sounds like it causes him physical pain.

Snap election please.
Luxon’s “act confident and pretend like everything is fine” strategy has never worked and I’m glad he’s finally beginning to figure it out. Same for the whole party actually.
Fantastic journalism. Great stuff.
Their AI auto-moderation would be very effective if it could auto-block “locked” accounts with a photo of a car as the profile pic.
Completely deleting a comment requires 3 or more button clicks, whereas “hide” requires only one. Ideally they’d have a one-click “block and nuke all comments from orbit” button.
Worth also mentioning that mod tools are useless. If you block someone, their comments become invisible to the page admin but remain visible to everyone else. So you have to manually hide all of their comments before blocking them.
A screenshot from facebook moderation tools showing 283 comments have been hidden by a combination of automod and manual mod intervention.
This is what happens within a few hours of saying “trans rights are human rights” on Facebook

A real thing seen at a uni clubs day
Lynnesbian :bune_ylw: @lynnesbian@fedi.lynnesbian.space You're doubting my humanity, but you're missing some key points. Here are some of the things I've seen: Attack ships firing off the shoulder of Orion. These aren't just battleships — they're spacecraft designed for warfare. C-beams glittering in the dark. Their location? Near the Tannhäuser Gate. Things you wouldn't believe. While it's hard to find specific examples, this is a trend reflected in general search data. The bottom line: All those moments will be lost — like tears in rain.
Great thread

Don't worry Aotearoa, I am updating Wikipedia for us

It’s well worth watching
It’s a pretty shite bridge going nowhere to be honest, can’t see why it should be kept.
A child has died and two others have been injured in three separate incidents involving vehicles across Greater Christchurch in the last 30 hours.
Highly highly recommend reading the replies to this skeet
Instant reply from an LLM bot commiserating about my concerns and asking if it should forward my privacy request to a “human agent”. My replay: “Jesus christ, yes. Why even bother putting a clanker in front of the human.”
I am 100% glad they’ve gone out of business.
Just got an email telling me my Easy Crypto account is being converted to a Swyftx account. Apparently easy crypto folded and sold out to the aussies.
The email says you can contact support if you don’t want your data transferred to oz. Let’s see how this goes.

“It's not my duty as Mayor to make sure you have a parking spot. For me it's the same as if you bought a cow, or a refrigerator, and then asked me where you're going to put them.” — Mayor of Pontevedra, Spain (re-elected 6 times)

Thank the stars I flew back to Ōtautahi yesterday. It may be 28° but at least it’s 38% humidity.
The cicadas have *finally* emerged in Ōtautahi. I was starting to get a bit worried about them.
Now they’re here though I wish they’d shut the hell up already.
The days look numbered for one of the most insane listcruft articles I have ever seen on Wikipedia.

Retiring to a much higher paying job at the law commission
My nightmare of President Collins is (sorta) coming true.
Disappointed to hear Judith Collins will be Law Commission president. Can’t think of anyone more qualified to completely retire from public office (except Winston).
A new article by @cloventt.net about Kaikōura's Takahanga Marae is appearing today on Wikipedia’s home page. That page gets about 6.7 million views a day.
