Donβt get me wrong I have artist friends who are partnering with AI to make imagery that really speaks to their inner landscape. As a whole though, this pretty much illustrates my enthusiasm level when I discover an image or video is generated rather than crafted through years of skill & practice

Since then, I have generated over 440 posts with examples of yearsβ worth of my concept work, reflections on where technology is heading for us artists and designers, and as a place where I can share some of my many side projects all while having an ongoing conversation with my patrons.
Back during the pandemic lockdown, I created a Patreon site as a way to open up my studio for like-minded folks interested in chatting about concept design, theme parks, and virtual reality tech so we can hang out and chat.
I want more of the Syrian partner. It is rare when you care so deeply about an ensemble of characters. May Dept Q have many more cases!
I enjoyed it a lot. Could have been half the number of episodes but all the characters are wonderful.
Nope
From coffee shop napkin scribble, to birdseye concept sketch, to finished environment. @walkaboutminigolf.bsky.social's newest course, Mount Olympus!
Our biggest goal with any of these huge world recreations, and especially with Mount Olympus, is that players will say, "This is exactly what I thought it would be like!"
Fingers crossed that they will this time as well.
@walkaboutminigolf.bsky.social Mount Olympus is coming! March 6th!
@walkaboutminigolf.bsky.socialβs next course Mount Olympus drops March 6th, this Thursday! I canβt wait for you all to explore it!
Mighty Coconut's Don Carson shares the principles for course design in Walkabout Mini Golf:
Thank you for sharing your day with us!
When you are old enough to remember riding the "Knott's Bear-y Tales" attraction, but too young to have worked on it. The next best thing is to sketch some of your favorite details from Chris Merritt and J. Eric Lynxwiler wonderful book! Thanks guys!
This was a wonderful conversation with Lucas Martel and Micheal Frederickson, Part Two promises to go even deeper!
In this two-part Walkabout Talkabout, Lucas Martell and @djcarson.bsky.social chat with Micheal Frederickson
from #Pixar as they discuss #Pixar's production process, environmental storytelling, and #VR's role in helping creators immerse themselves in their worlds. www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDRq...
I draw now more then I ever have and the joy it brings me isn't tempered or watered down by the fact that my non-artist friends use AI to explore their ideas visually. It's just another tool.
Do it!
Although fascinated by the seeming potential of AI I actually donβt reach for it that much. Not for image generation, image editing, or research, and I find the images it generates universally off putting.
Who isnβt?
Over Christmas I shared a stack of the doodles I do on scraps of little brown paper. My good friend Joe Lanzisero commented, βYou should make a book of thoseβ, so that is what I did!

Some lovely screenshots of the final Viva Las Elvis course for @walkaboutminigolf.bsky.social. This was our chance to play with a more dreamlike landscape rather than attempt to recreate a physical retro Vegas alone!
Vintage Las Vegas has been on our bucket list for a future course design but we didn't know how to approach it exactly. When the Elvis estate approached us we thought this might be the perfect opportunity to explore a more dreamlike environment. We are so happy it has been so well received!
Here are a few support concepts for the latest @walkaboutminigolf.bsky.social Viva Las Elvis course, just released January 16th!
Yup!
π¬ SO glad I ordered mine early!
Just received my copy of Knott's Bear-y Tales The Complete History of the Whimsical Attraction by @cdylanm.bsky.social & J. Eric Lynxwiler! A splendid collection of hundreds of behind the scenes photos and stories for anyone that remembers this wonderful little attraction!
