Walz: Here in Minnesota, freedom means several things. It means freedom from hunger and poverty. That means freedom to worship or not. It means the freedom to be who you are anyway you choose, and that is a birthright..
Walz: If you say you love freedom but you don't believe freedom is for everybody, then the thing you love is not freedom, it is privilege.
I refuse to let them go silently. I keep them in my contacts. I save their letters, messages, and emails. It's a testament to the influence they had on you and your love for them!
Ten years ago if you had written a dystopian SF story in which the person in charge of U.S. public health did a press event at a fast food joint to say that fried food is good but measles vaccines cause measles the ghost of Philip K. Dick would have said that you were being too bleak and unrealistic
So, Amazon getting Gundam GQuuuuux just got even fucking worse.
LOL SMDH this thread is a DEEP rabbit hole of nostalgia about how Shadowrun’s cyberpunk fantasy Sixth World has turned out to be kinda hopeful compared to the present day.
Ukrainian forces have punched deep holes into Russian defenses in Toretsk and re-entered into large part of the city. They have already entered the ruins of the city center.
Dear Democratic Party: why are you not screaming this from every rooftop? Why are you not holding press conferences with these poor fired people - putting a face on what the richest man is destroying?
I mentioned the other day that my #FLGS was struggling. Well, he's got an ebay page!
He's got a drekload of 5e and other #Shadowrun stuff on his ebay page at great prices, and I know he'll take lower "Best Offer" bids!
Check it out and buy some stuff, and help keep the lights on please??
I work in gaming. I can't do my job without a PlayStation 5 and a new 4K TV. It's too much trouble to sort out who needs to be paid for them, so I'm allowed to just go to the store and take them. Right?
Make no mistake: russia bombing the downtown of the capital city with 4 million residents is considered routine. Ukraine conducting deep strikes against russian military bases is labeled as escalation. Future historians will feel secondhand embarrassment when studying this era.

Picture of Tom Waits smoking a cigarette with a '70s era jukebox behind him. "Just a friendly reminder to leave a piano and pack of cigarettes out for Tom Waits tonight."
Two stages of writing:

Happy Thanksgiving. Got an early thing to be thankful for when Catalyst Game Labs release a new book that I worked on. Tarnished Star covers where Shadowrun and law enforcement intersect. It was amazing to work with the team of writers on this!

The Greeks struggled with issues that are similar to what we confront today. Aristotle, for example, spent much of Book V of his Politics examining the problem of tyranny.2 He said that the tyrant loves vice and is a friend of the bad. The tyrant wants to surround himself with weak, bad, and stupid people. He finds good and wise people to be irritants because they do not support him in his viciousness. The tyrant also needs enemies and antagonists—those he rails against in order to rally his party and the party’s base among the people. Aristotle explained: “The tyrant is a stirrer-up of war, with the deliberate purpose of keeping the people busy and also of making them constantly in need of a leader.” Aristotle also understood that the tyrant needs his sycophants. He explained: “For tyrants enjoy being flattered, but nobody would ever flatter them if he possessed a free spirit.” Aristotle continues to explain that a demagogue is what we call a tyrant in a democracy. The demagogue must, however, suck up to the people. He is, as Aristotle says, a
