Yeah, I'm shocked I haven't seen that in other games. It rewards getting through maps quickly and efficiently and helps buff up underleveled units (or just let one particular unit get overpowered quickly).
Genuinely a great mechanic.

Aside from some really good map design, this was just a solid game across the board. Nothing really impressed me, but there's nothing explicitly bad either. It's just a consistently fun game.
The definitive 7/10 video game, imo.

Video Game #11: Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
I was really surprised by how much this feels just like the GBA Fire Emblem games, down to the writing, pacing, and overall style. On that end, this game doesn't do anything ambitious or new for the series, but as it is, it's a fun time.
I've also been unemployed at the time of GDC for three of the past five years, and dropping $2000+ on a networking event while unemployed and having nearly no income seems financially irresponsible of me to do.
Really hoping to finally make it next year.
Part of me feels bad for not going to GDC this so far at this point in my life and career. There's a nagging feeling within me that I've missed so many chances to network and am missing finite chances to get back into the industry.
Hope all friends and colleagues attending GDC have a great time!!
I will probably bite the financial bullet maybe next year?

Sorry to be so personal on main. It's just been such an overwhelming feeling that mixes depression, exhaustion, and frustration at the state of things.
This is on top of trying to navigate it all while being autistic, trying to follow rules as much as possible, and seemingly not doing good enough.
Been incredibly anxious lately for many reasons, but one reason is that I'm 99% sure I've been ghosted by someone I really liked.
Been ghosted a lot of times ( by employers, friends, and dates) over the past couple six months and it never doesn't hurt.
I just want to feel wanted by someone.
Picture of Marjane Satrapi alongside a quote from her. The quote reads: The world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we don't know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you. And our governments are very much the same... - Marjane Satrapi, Iranian-French graphic novelist
Thinking about this quote from Persepolis creator Marjane Satrapi again.
Fanart of Hulkenberg from Metaphor Re:Fantazio. It's a waist-up character portrait. She is delicately holding her spear and facing left looking past it. The piece is bright and colourful with a bright cyan and dark grey background. Hulkenberg is cel-shaded with black.

The human cost of this is catastrophic. So many livelihoods have been upended in such a short amount of time.
Hey.
Tell people when they do good job.
When you like the stuff they make.
When you like the characters theyโve created.
The stories theyโve told.
Nobody hears it as often as you think bc everyone thinks everyone hears it all the time.
Trust. They donโt.

Looking forward to winter being over soon. The weather this season has been super all over the place in MN.
Was going to go workout this morning, then freezing rain started coming down and made my windshield a wall of ice. Literally could not see at all within a minute of driving through rain that immediately froze onto my car.
Immediately turned back home. Freezing rain is no joke.

Played this a lot when I was a kid and felt like revisiting it. It's solid, but doesn't have the sauce that later Mario Tennis games would have. Feels very basic compared to most other Mario sports games.

Video Game #10: Mario Tennis
Uhh, is this that new Mario Tennis game for Switch 2 everyone is raving about? I didn't expect Nintendo and Camelot to go with the low-poly aesthetic for this one.
i like video games and think there should be a sustainable industry for me and my very cool and talented friends to keep making them :)
