Interesting. That’s certainly helpful, but still puts the onus on developers to add that information. Not sure this could be enforced, which is why we would implement a labeler. @pfrazee.com any chance this becomes required in a way that makes a labeler of bots (excluding spam ones) redundant?
Labeling is on our radar. Just been busy and want to do an organizational restructure of the labels/lists we use first.
AI bots and utility bots such as @reminder-bot.juni-is.gay are lumped into the chat bot list. Not ideal.
We list accounts that frequently post media they did not create because they:
1. obscure sources and steal viewership from creators
2. pollute content ecosystems with redundancy
3. are associated with follow or engagement farming, which often fuels misinformation and fear
We would like to setup a labeler that can mark these atomically by user bios. But we are also interested in setting something up for developers to self-label their bots too.
Just need time to set it up.

For now, we are just manually adding to a list in the hopes that feed creators will take advantage of them to reduce further spread of reposted (often stolen) content.
Very interesting read; we hadn’t considered how we might use our eventual labeler service to redirect users to the original source of content. This seems like a “community notes” sort of service though.
Nevertheless we are very keen to get a labeler up to mark posts and accounts reposting content.

The lack of location data and abundance of news bots, bots, and spam are both a major hindrance for creating quality location-based feeds.
We don’t have a labeler setup yet but if anyone drops us a note when you see a new PDS spam farm, we will get it added to our spam mod list ASAP (often faster than Bsky mod tbh). 🫡

It may not be as frequently requested but a suggestion: embed videos from Instagram and TikTok to reduce the re-hosting via re-posting.
The goal here is to reduce (1) resources for Bluesky, (2) video feeds with filled with redundant videos, and (3) improve discovery of original video creators.

We made these lists specifically because we didn’t like that bot & spam lists are usually automated and contained numerous false positives.
We focus primarily on labeled bot accounts (e.g. in bio or a post), & try very hard not to include real people*
*not true for our non-mod lists

We also have another 3k+ likely bot accounts in a spreadsheet - but manual verification takes time.
Throwing in a vote to use @bookmark.cool, another client, or the bookmark labeler instead of leaving pins everywhere, cluttering up replies.
We have numerous lists but, as of now, are not a labeler. It is on our radar though.
However, having a lexicon specifically for different chat bot features/roles will be more useful for folks who aren’t all-or-nothing about them.

We are not currently a labeler you can report to (considering in the future), but we do maintain a list of content aggregators which includes thieves. If you DM us an account we will investigate adding it.
However, without labeler functions, we only list accounts regularly posting such content.

We are not confident the lists are not being misused for personal grievances.
