Why did you add black bars to the video? Makes it impossible it to watch in its original orientation.
It's probably not a bad idea to err on the side of being cautious during an era where the Epstein-affiliated government administration is taking over social media platforms and converting them to vehicles for propaganda.
House hearing on fake "kids safety" censorship bills happening right now. Call your lawmakers!!!!

Also, David Gerard never has anything useful to say. At best he parrots others good criticisms.
Ideally, we should have code that is semantically rich and expressive, but models tend to be trained on the status quo, and just reproduce it. I feel like advances in LLMs have somewhat stunted experimentation in Programming Language Theory and design. It also moves the activity from logic to vibes.
Local LLMs have promise, but it seems the aforementioned Claude addicts aren't going for it. RAM/VRAM is also prohibitively expensive due to the oligarchs buying it all for their data centers.
In practice, these services generate massive amounts of boilerplate code, instead of making code more terse
The discourse around AI is pretty bad. My concern is different than most: what are you going to do when you become dependent on whatever LLM-as-a-service, & they lock it down or hike the price, & you have mountains of slop code to maintain? Seems like AI-as-a-service is an unsustainable liability.
Dr. Manhattan meme. βIt is 1961. Robert Kennedy is Cabinet Secretary. There is an ill-conceived and botched U.S. attack on Cuba. It is 2026. Robert Kennedy is Cabinet Secretary. There is an ill-conceived and botched U.S. attack on Cuba.β

Visited Reddit's frontpage 2 days ago after a campist on Discord cited a slander post on /r/socialism, /r/pics had seemingly AI-generated bait post at the top. Buried in the replies were a few investigating how suspicious the account that submitted it is. Garbage site

Tweet by Igor Bobic "Fetterman responds to Graham Platner saying he should lose his seat: βOh, really? The guy with the Nazi tattoo? Yeah, I'm devastated by that.β "
this is what awaits us if we fail to crush Platner in the primary, "oh the party of Nazi Tattoos has something to say?" every time forever
Kat has done something different by centering mutual aid as part of campaigning, and this signals that she will try to do things differently. Maybe that won't work out. But we have to try to do things differently because the status quo doesn't work.
It's a reasonable fear. The challenges of turning this system around can defeat those who try. Zohran, despite failing the fight to keep libraries funded, has been mostly good as mayor so far. We won't know unless we try, and we probably shouldn't let such power fall into the hands of Fine or Biss.
One thing I am hoping to see on Bluesky / ATProto is to bring all public event calendars to use community.lexicon.calendar.event, such as those at public parks and government buildings.
And not a single mention of Ranked Choice Voting on their entire website.
Because too many leftists here are easily swayed by opposition research funded by AIPAC:

Had. As in back in September. And was fired for it.
Would you rather have the AIPAC candidate or the "AI generated content is art" candidate win the seat?
If you found this in a Neal Stephenson book you'd be like ok wow dude is getting a little obvious in his dotage
Kat will learn about what non-interventionism means from the guy who says Trump can have a little imperialism over Greenland as a treat.

That escalated quickly.
BTW, AIPAC has more Evangelical Christians than Jews, and JFK Jr was going to classify AIPAC's predecessor as a foreign influence organization before his murder. There is a Jewish American Zionist PAC without the evangelicals starting the apocalypse, it's called J-Street.
Not a single-issue, Palantir controls puppet strings of JD Vance
"Palantir is not just another tech company. It is one of the central data-infrastructure contractors powering ICEβs surveillance apparatus providing tools that enable mass data aggregation, predictive tracking, & enforcement targeting"
He's currently a member of the US House, running for US Senate
In the House, he started the bipartisan push to ban TikTok which ended up transferring the site to Larry Ellison, Trump ally, where it became another tool of far-right propaganda
