Yeah reading a print edition is a totally different experience to reading online. The juxtapositions and curating are far more meaningful.
Thank you!
A customer endorsement! She / he / they do mean CAN endorse. I promise. (See follow-up post)
I think generally periods of deep concentration and focus are good for your brain. Whether that is reading, playing an instrument, making art, whatever.
On the book? Long story. Not a commercial endeavour (yet). Tell you more when I see you (if you want to listen to yet another person bore on about their book, which is entirely optional I assure you).
Oh this is a period that fascinates me. Argh. Another book to add to the tottering pile. Thanks!
Oh thank you but atm I have three books to read about the psychological impact of WWI on the domestic population (for a book Iβm writing) and Iβm also reading for pleasure Englandβs Dreaming (about punk). Also buying too many books which arenβt getting read.

Itβs been a busy weekend for our fantastic global team of reporters and editors, partic our unmatched Tehran crew - so instead of doing a thread of various news items youβve missed, Iβll just leave you with this: proof that print is still alive and kicking in the 21st century. #buyapaper
Oh maybe I need to read this!
I loved her memoir.
Hotel Du Lac by Anita Brookner. Itβs like 20th century Jane Austen.
And we are, indeed, still in business too! (Sorry I havenβt replied to yr email btw. Got my tin hat on this weekend and @mudlarklives.bsky.social has been in Japan anyway)
Heβs been positioning himself for a while now. He did a good video a while back during a previous bout of Labour self-flagellation.
βBlame it on George Gallowayβ is β¦. quite the take.
Perhaps someone needs to tell him that wavering Labour voters can also read letters.
This post is the single best advert for the fact that proper local journalism matters.
If Jimβs team hadnβt put the pieces together quickly, this wouldnβt have been stopped.
I found it surprising that this piece didnβt mention either its long relationship with the FT or the fact that in an era when individual supposedly pseudonymous writers post on social media referencing their pseudonyms, it is impossible to maintain the illusion of a single house voice/identity.
I canβt remember where I read this - it may have been in The Five Giants by Nick Timmins - but apparently Beveridge considered recommending the nationalisation of all privately rented housing. Can you imagine if they had taken that opportunity!

Dear sir/madam,
May I interest you in a product with a strong track record (four centuries) that will satisfy your information needs in an efficient package? It is called a news paper. It consists of sheets of pulped wood, printed with various items of the day. I think you will find it beneficial.
Thank you! I am now going to cite this in my forthcoming annual performance review, so your financial contribution is greatly appreciated.
Thank you. And yes I agree, our arts coverage is an under-appreciated gem.

Yes exactly. I think we are saying the same thing!
