Letting go and trusting the audience is hard but essential. I think an underestimated part of mastering any creative craft is coming to believe in your capacity to present something the audience can connect with in any number of meaningful ways.
I think there's a tendency to get anxious as a creator about making sure the audience walks away with the 'correct' interpretation, or knows 'for sure' what every character is feeling. Not to mention pandering to shorter attention spans, distractions, warding off bad-faith interpretations.
(Or maybe we just get real pissed off at that imaginary granddaughter for years.)
Their example, that moment in Kiki's Delivery Service when she helps the old ladies bake a herring pie that she delivers, through the rain, to a granddaughter who turns out to be ungrateful, shows us that space in action. Almost no words, just images, and we process with Kiki in our own ways.
Saw a post on Insta this morning reminding me that the best writers, directors, and other creatives remember to let the audience have their own feelings in their own time. If we rush to explain what we think they're 'supposed' to feel, we quash authenticity.
Also seeking an amazing blazer, a perfect sweater, a gay little neckerchief thing, and warm weather wear that doesn't make me look like a camp counselor from the 90s (though I will definitely choose that outfit from time to time)
It is the slovenmaxxing season

I have read most of them, was a huge fan as an early teen, they are truly a journey.
Nice! Also, afaik, Pern did do the linked dragon thing 'first' (at the very least, early and loud), but I wasn't alive then so I can't verify for sure. That was certainly my impression growing up.
Just a holiday update to say I'm doing really well, and I hope you all are too.
I swear to god my vet uses a Harvest Moon 64 background track for their hold music
I tend to order from here: canadastrong.ca/search?type=... They've got a fit test kit with several sizes. I fit a small, FYI. There's also a picture with a cross-brand size comparison chart on the Q100 sizing kit product page.
We're predicted to face the worst flu season in a decade, as the major strain =/= strain targeted in seasonal vax. If you want to reduce your risk of spending holidays ill, I recommend using a good-fitting mask. I like the Canadamasq Q100 a lot; it's earloop but N95-equivalent, breathable, π-made.
I truly did not know what was happening!
HAHAHAH these are so delightful thank you

Again, to every videogame writer who wrote funny emails to read in an immersive sim/etc. where I rolled my eyes and said out loud, "lol like anyone would ever email something this on the nose", again, sorry, I was wrong, life sucks, you nailed it
