The slurs have gained sentience…

This is why Trump’s political ‘success’ stumps them all - he is a media maker at heart. And dismissing Media and Cultural Studies as a “soft” discipline compared to theirs really shows how wrong they were all along.

At this point, Political Science w/o deep media scholarship is less than worthless.

Younger poli sci academics get it, but older ones seem totally at sea in making sense of what’s happening, and there’s a reason for that.

Most of the people in power are not driven by traditional political strategies or ideologies. They are driven by media-based metrics and systems.

If you want to understand contemporary American politics, don’t go to the Political Scientists. Go to the Media and Culture scholars.

There is a lot of stupid here, but what the hell is a “politically correct war?”

If you took $1 billion and gave it to the endowment of a different small college each day, they could each provide a free college education to several hundred students per year in perpetuity. Instead we are using that money to bomb schools and kill students in Iran, for no clearly stated purpose.

very aspect of life in this country is designed so that people do not form bonds or relationships with other people, it's wild to watch in action. Never seen divide and conquer applied this rigorously to a domestic population that is not under foreign occupation

we appear to have four competing fascist movements jockeying for control: blood & soil nazism under miller and hegseth, darwinian ecofascism from rfk, technofascism under vance and musk, and one Big Wet Hitler who understands the true animating core of the american volk is a deep love for shopping

Just for posterity… this is from two days after he started an illegal war in Iran

One of my favourite sides of politics/media.

This is precisely it. The use of ‘AI’ in military operations isn’t to conduct better operations; it is to have a convenient scapegoat at hand when things go wrong to avoid responsibility

This obviously very stupid but is it also smart? We’ll talk to some liars after this break.

I teach both in my intro class, and they hit so much more now than 10 years ago. My joke is Benjamin’s “aura” might be translated “vibes” today. Our vibes are withering!

The entire millennial identity is being prepared and groomed for a version of the world that stopped existing by the time we reached it

we slammed into a horizon painted on a brick wall like fucking looney tunes

After a US-Israeli strike on a girls’ elementary school in Minab, Iran, rescuers dug through the rubble for survivors. The death toll is still rising, with more than 80 confirmed dead so far.

If you want to “Share an Opinion” with Congressman Landsman through his official website… I’m afraid they’re having some issues

Why are we going to let “our brave service members” die to destabilize an entire region and endanger countless civilians, Greg?

This so-called Democratic Congressperson is posting comments indistinguishable from Republican propaganda.

He’s my district representative, and I will do everything in my power to get him out of office.

I’m your constituent, and I’m going to do everything in my power to get you replaced in office. Shame on you for supporting the unnecessary deaths of scores of civilians (and likely several US soldiers to come).

things every single republican president of your lifetime has done

- started a war in the middle east
- completely destroyed the economy

What the genocide in Gaza reinforced is that there are no "civilians" when it comes to Israel and the United States. The rest of the world learned the same lesson and the consequences are going to be felt across the world.

Killing scores of children at a school for… some unknown fucking reason.

It’s not a war when indiscriminately killing civilians. That’s murder.

News outlets calling this a ‘war’ are laundering US/Israeli crimes.

28.02.2026 12:13 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

just really feels like their win condition is simply the fact that killing people makes this administration feel powerful and they’re reasonably confident Congress won’t stop them from just blowing shit up for funzies as long as they can get away with it

A thing I strongly believe, but that was only obvious in retrospect, was that drive-time talk radio was the most valuable propaganda platform in history and a big reason we got into this mess we're in now was because conservatives dominated it in the 1990s and 2000s

As a media and culture scholar, this is the part of the Paramount-WB News that I wish we saw more of. At a basic level, artists and creators will lose more places to pitch ideas and tell stories to a mass audience w/ funding

That means fewer types of stories and less of challenging ideas get out
