Picard: It's a computer simulation of thoroughbred horse racing called Umamusume Pretty Derby. The program was quite popular in the 21st century.
Riker: Mm. 'Pretty' is accurate. That Goldship is quite something.
Picard: I hadn't noticed. I enjoy the simulation's tactical qualities.
Riker: Yes, sir.

Oh true! I'll keep an eye on them and see how my free time ends up. Had no idea 14drl was a thing, I do love a longer deadline.

Apparently the original composers were canned after the first season along with a lot of other staff. Yesh.

Thinking about trying the 7DRL jam, just realizing it's running. Would definitely do a very very chill barebones thing to get my gears going on larger scope stuff for later.

Farscape is sick, I dunno why it was never on my radar. The puppetry and 00's ness of all of it is so much fun. Loving the soundtrack too, there's a lot of old pcm sample based brass in particular I think I'm hearing in the first season.

I printed it and stuck self-adhesive copper tape to it. There's copper tape with conductive adhesive so you can add multiple overlapping pieces and it counts as one conductive surface.
Then I used the second part of the mold to shape the copper, so that it sticks inside the recessed traces.
Then I used sandpaper to file away at the raised ridges. The copper traces are now electrically independent of each other. Done!
But if I want, I can remove the extra copper tape.
The companion mold at the bottom. This second 3D-printed part pushes the copper tape down into the recessed trace channels so it conforms to the shape. The two parts sandwich together with alignment spikes to keep everything registered.

Adobe Illustrator on top (you can use any free tool that makes SVG vector files. I just own an old illustrator version.
Bottom: the PCB Forge tool I made
I made a tool that turns PCB designs into 3D-printable molds. you sandwich copper tape between the parts, sand the ridges, and you have a real working PCB. no etching, no chemicals. I am losing my mind

My water pipes outside (the service line underground) have been frozen for almost 3 weeks and it's FINALLY BACK.
Can finally get back to some level of normal. Excited to tinker on side stuff more, had a lot going on that's been making it hard to do my hobbies.

Oh yeah I'll have to find that, Loren's stuff has also been a big big influence lately. I'd love to be able to invert the "playing the minimap" feeling that sometimes comes with this kind of dual view. Sometimes the fp viewport real estate feels under used when there's a map grid with all the info.

Thank you so much! I've been thinking a lot more about those dedicated HUDs since following some of the stuff you've dabbled with lately!
I've warmed up a lot to being boxed in with just a little viewport of the world. I'm also very indecisive and have trouble picking just one top down/fp view lol.

Ah forgot alt text. All images are gui only mockups showing a mostly standard 4 party dungeon crawl type of game. One of the images is an ascii text mockup, the other three are pixel art mockups with squared off design. The colors are mostly a dark grey bg, warmer white borders with orange accents.

Finished up DS9 and starting Star Trek Academy. Liking it a lot more than I expected. There's a lot more depth to what they're trying there than I was giving the show credit from previews. Post dystopia rebuilding with a new gen is such a good area to dig into for a modern Trek.

I've been recently realizing how much stuff I like is just various flavors of Wizardry as well. It's so fun to trace back those elements and see how it's morphed across different series.
