...and if you haven't read the book yet, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy. It's one of Westlake's greatest novels (no exaggeration). Bruising and heartbreaking and philosophical -- shorturl.at/tcBTW
THE ACTOR, the film based on Donald E. Westlake's brilliant Hard Case Crime novel, hits theaters March 14! Here's the poster. Trailer online later today. I've seen the movie--AndrΓ© Holland is breathtakingly good (Gemma Chan is amazing too). A master class in acting.
Just spotted @hardcasecrime.bsky.social's 'Money Shot' in the wild.
The first book in Christa Faust's Angel Dare trilogy.
With the big finale of HEAT SEEKER: COMBUSTION coming next month, we just announced the debut of the next series -- HEAT SEEKER: EXPOSED -- in May: www.flickeringmyth.com/titan-and-ha...
Feels like this is the way Valley of Fear was meant to be read! @hardcasecrime.bsky.social
It is, and the "possibly" is doing a lot of work...but I'd defend the claim. THE AX is also amazing, and A LIKELY STORY, and I love HELP I AM BEING HELD PRISONER, and of course there are the Parkers...but still. This book just hits like a freight train.
And hereβs what it looks like:
β¦the upcoming film adaptation starring Andre Holland. Hospitalized after a liaison with another manβs wife ends in violence, actor Paul Cole has just one goal: to rebuild his shattered life. But with his memory damaged, the police hounding him, Paul faces steep oddsβ¦and a grim fate if he fails.
We just got our first copies of THE ACTOR, possibly the single best novel Donald E. Westlake ever wrote. Originally published as MEMORY, the book is appearing for the first time ever in the larger βtrade paperbackβ format (matching all our other recent Westlake releases) and celebratesβ¦
Super excited to announce my next project with Titan Comics/Hard Case Crime! comicbook.com/comics/news/...
Thank you! That book does feel like a perfect fit for a road trip.
Wouldn't want to miss it. :)
Thanks! Hope you continue to enjoy what you read...
...and in bookstores as of 10 days ago, QUARRY'S RETURN by Max Allan Collins, which PW calls "Highly satisfying...better than ever." The notorious hitman may be getting on in years, but when his grown daughter disappears, he puts his hard-won skills to deadly use. shorturl.at/oCV3m
In comic book stores as of this Wednesday, HEAT SEEKER: COMBUSTION, the latest adventure set in the GUN HONEY universe. I'm not unbiased, but it's my favorite one yet.
It has been roughly a year since we created this account and we haven't posted anything in all that time. But perhaps the time has come. It's hard when you've got 12,000 followers at the Other Place and only a few hundred here, but... Got to start somewhere.
Our thanks to @lastcomicshop.bsky.social for this kind endorsement...
3 new books came out this week: FAST CHARLIE by Victor Gischler (basis for the new Pierce Brosnan movie), SEED ON THE WIND by Rex Stout (unpublished for 93 years!), and the first ever paperback edition of Max Allan Collins' new Nathan Heller historical P.I. novel, THE BIG BUNDLE.
What's new from Hard Case Crime this holiday season? I'm glad you asked! These three, the Collins in hardcover, the Stout and Gischler in paperback. All available from your favorite local or online bookseller.
Thanks to the kind intercession of @signaltype.bsky.social, Hard Case Crime is on this lovely site -- and might, someday, no longer be on that other one. One can only hope.
