Have you watched "Spearhead" on Blu-ray? I love the fact that they preserved the filmed opening titles (including the title "zoom") from the original prints!
Excellent way to start the show. Mine would be "Ribos Operation"โmy 1stโbut everyone has their own! "Spearhead" is a brilliant place to beginโฆ the first color (and the ONLY shot entirely on film)! Plus, you're only two stories away from the theme-song "sting"โฆ which defined the series from then on!
A photo of K staring at a large purple hologram of Joi from BLADE RUNNER 2049, next to a similar photo of a cat watching THE ARISTOCATS on television.
Waitโฆ โSpearheadโ to โWar Gamesโ? So you start with Pertwee, go through to the end, and then go back and watch Hartnell/Troughton?

Scum and Villainy Cantina
Amazing nightโฆ starting w/ incredible new doc BEAM ME UP SULUโฆ followed by after-party-ing at SCUM AND VILLAINY. But the perfect nightcap was watching the launch of a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg, leaving a brilliant fiery trail across the starry sky. A fitting ending to a "Trek" evening, indeed!
The Paradox of Gilmore Girls and The Sopranos
Amazing. Butโฆ this hasn't got s--t on Doctor Who. The 1988 DW story "Remembrance of the Daleks" โ set in November 1963 โ includes a scene in which the first ever (1963) episode of DW begins to play on a TV. So the DW TV series exists within its own universe. ๐คฏ
This really came to a head with PICARD season 3. The sheer volume of people โcasuallyโ announcing on social media that theyโd seen it in advance rubbed many, many folks the wrong way.
As per the norm this time of yearโฆ please no heckling, et cetera et ceteraโฆ ๐ @gallifreyone.bsky.social @larrynemecek.bsky.social

Filmmakers of the worldโฆ
When I was very small and went to school in fall โ81, I had an assignment to draw my favorite memory from the past summer. I drew (a very simple, long-lost version of) this image. My teacher came over and said โIs that Indiana Jones?!โ She proceeded to tell me how cool that was, and gave me an A. ๐๐ผ
Still works!!!

โ I'm In This Photo and I Don't Like It
Yes! If youโre in a โcreativeโ field (maybe true for other fields, I wouldnโt know) the WORST thing you can do for your career is to stay home, avoid events, pass on attending parties, etc. The friends you happen to make today WILL BECOME the people who hire you (or at least work with you) tomorrow.
Merry Christmas from Lumon Industries (outies only). #Severance
TIL this is a real song. Ive always known it as the theme from โPengoโ ๐ฎ
โซ All I want for Christmasโฆ is physical media. โซ
Apparently as late as VOY this was still an โissue.โ ๐
The TV remote my great-uncle (grand-uncle?) had when I was small: an RCA "Victor" single-button unit which used sound to switch your TV on or off. It was released in the 50s, but he still had one when I was littleโฆ and I have vague memories of playing with it, thinking it was absolutely magical. ๐ฅน
McCoyโs ludicrous claim that โRome had no sun worshipersโ has always puzzled me, because ancient Rome ABSOLUTELY had sun worshipers. Was this (very common) information somehow forgotten by the 23rd century? Perhaps it was lost during WW3 (like those โspottyโ records about Khanโs timetable) ๐ค๐
Back in the game, baby! ๐ค
For those who celebrate
Tree time. And while Trek isn't exactly the "reason for the season," I'll allow it.
