blog post about how using ai shit makes you a scab
llms are so good for productivity that they produced a whole new class of vulnerabilities. cool!
Sorry I'm not more open-minded about LLMs, it's just some fucking maniacs shoveled out a bunch of useless bloatware featuring that technology, did not give me any chance to opt out, reorganized the entire economy around it, zeroed out gains made by green energy, and made it impossible to buy RAM
your biyearly reminder that I have a blog (which I need to write more for) available via rss, and exist on several webrings, as do many others.
the disenshittified internet is there if you want it ๐ค
actually both of them are cool and good
Do you care about things? The AI companies want to stop that. Their product, more than any other invention in human history, is training you to stare dead-eyed while a machine serves you a stream of mediocrity
I have and am! its actually great!
long live rss!
wow what an infuriating thread to read. programmers are the worst sometimes
keep calling him prince andrew imo, i don't think the institution which shielded and funded him should get to cut ties so easily
the movie up until that point was great, I'm just super pissed at the theater - which has obviously been massively neglected by management. feel real bad for the worker that had to deal with it bc it seemed like this wasn't uncommon and he was surprised we didn't blame him for it.
literally a few days ago we went to a late night screening of iron lung. we left without seeing the ending because the projector broke _right_ at the climax of the film and we couldn't see anything. supremely dissatisfying
44.7 :)))
I certainly feel a way that the default risk model of llm enthusiasts seems to be "it'll probably be fine, whats the worst that could happen"
people really be out here treating the whole internet like their personal playground. you should feel supremely embarrassed to have authored a bot that has done this.
truly noone has learned from the people that lost production databases because of this exact same tech. now its online?
this whole story is insane. the application of llms has been "man this seems super irresponsible" at literally every fucking stage.
while I respect scott for such a measured response, I really don't think grace is appropriate here. this trajectory is fucking dire
i'm new to "design", and the lesson i unexpectedly keep learning over and over is that the UI should actually reflect the data model. when i try to hide the underlying model fearing it would be confusing, it actually ends up way more confusing and cause contradictions than if i had just embraced it
ah thats a bummer
elden ring is weird because on the one hand I think the world is super cool, and there are a lot of interesting characters and story lines which I've enjoyed learning about over hundreds of hours.
otoh we have wizard snails, big mouth imps, and aggressive balls with comedic timing
I don't remember there being much overt misogyny, tho maybe some messages are a little too excited about feet...
but yeah it does change the vibe a lot either way. really kinda frontlines the subtle goofiness underlying a lot of elden ring.
"likely lovable sort"
visions of dog
The way these questions are framed is utterly enraging but if you have the stomach for it please do it
like look at this powerrangers-ass music video
youtu.be/02_Lhj1gxO8?...
like its pop, yeah. but they're such a specific, unique flavour of pop. there's some 80s shit in there, some early 2000s nu wave stuff, some weird art pop stuff??
genuinely very cool
in my empire of the sun phase. listening to the discography on repeat.
I always liked the stuff that got big, but their other stuff is really good too?? I genuinely didn't know that they had other stuff and feel robbed for it
oh damn, you're right! I didn't realise there was something earlier than the bill. my bad, TIL
even worse, she claimed she verified the (obviously self conflicting!) output w/ her colleagues at her school - so now I can't trust anything from them either ๐
esp when half the explanation was "there are no rules, just go by what sounds correct!" after the lesson where we discussed the rules ๐
ngl having to tell my bulgarian tutor (who I am paying!) not to send me explanations from chatgpt really sucks
rip the three animated emotes I use, but I cannot support this company
cancelled my discord nitro
