I wish I could find the words to express how much joy the work of you and your team has brought to me.
Real, tangible, joy. ❤️

This is why I have always maintained that in the UK, the class system is almost completely independent of money.
The answer is a resounding yes...
But we're frequently oblivious to such things, or cautious that we're misunderstanding something so you may need to be direct.
There is nothing more attractive in a woman than self-confidence.
Jerry Springer The Opera.
Cross-racial bias, ironically, crosses all races.
I believe air ambulances and lifeguard flights are still permitted at least?
"We're still here", a statement of rejection of erasure of culture.
The exact same statement is seen everywhere in Wales.
"Yma O Hyd".
Uh oh, what did i miss?
& (pronounced "and") used to be the last letter of the alphabet, so kids when they learned the alphabet would end it with: W X Y and per se &.
and per se and
ampersand!
Okay, I need to go for a walk or I'm just going to dump alphabet trivia on your thread.
Have an amazing day! ♥
You are most welcome! I'm not a linguist either, but I have just always loved the "unusual" when it comes to language.
We lost a whole bunch of letters from the English Alphabet over time: þ, Ð/ð, ƿ, ȝ, æ, œ, ſ, &.
I'm pretty sure you know this, but for other thread-readers who may not: Those "Yt"s in the Middle English example are a typographical error.
It should be "þt", which is the word "that".
(It's the whole þ -> Y thing all over again, which gave us the word "Ye", which of course - never existed)
It's a variant of the Halo Effect:

A human bias that is so insidious, that even when you consciously are aware of it, you have to consciously fight it.
My mother, my grandmother, and I'm sure many of the generations before them had a skill that I know I, and everyone else i know irl lack.
The ability to look in a pantry and create from *anything*, something delicious and nutritious.
I don't want recipes.
I want to learn this skill.
Where tho?
Another option is future equity share.
Where you part-own the property with an investment company, you get to live in it - with the caveat that should the value go up, the amount you have to pay to buy up their share goes up too.
Contract states they can't force you to sell.
Ouch, I didn't see that happen.
Incidentally, I just denied ryanbot's update to 0.60.5 because it needs the new executable added.
I'm not sure if that means I should request changes in that PR, or just open a second in parallel.
My wife was in the UK watching "Steptoe and Son", and started saying lines before they did.
That's when we learned that Stamford and Son was an American remake of the original Steptoe and Son.
It's the oldest example of UK to US remakes of series I can think of.
I'm one of the package maintainers for ponyc in nixos, so give me a poke when you have something ready and I'll try and get it moving for you.
Welcome to the party!
I hope pony brings you as much joy and productivity as it has brought me!
Thank you for posting this - we were planning on coming out to play and were going to buy the tickets on the day.
I guess they'll update their website soon enough.
Their priority of course *had* to be letting those flying in know in advance, so I completely get it.
I'm so glad it works for you.
I'm not exaggerating when I say that it saved my life.
There is No Way In Hell I would trust the American Food Industry to produce safe raw milk.
Outside the US cheese made with raw milk is normal.
It doesn't exist here (except a few artisan producers) because commodity milk is far too contaminated for the inoculation to be consistently successful.
I passed a lady coming out of a store today and she was carrying the largest aluminum pot I've ever seen.
We didn't have a word of a language in common, but I pointed at it, gestured it was HUGE, and rubbed my belly with a grin.
She just beamed at me.
I REALLY want to know what she was cooking.
That moment after attempting to clean the same #fountainpen for over an hour you give up.
It's now my sacrificial Baystate Blue pen.
I volunteer with two Ukrainian charities to regularly video-call with Ukranians to help with their English language skills.
We natter about anything and everything - extremely rarely politics.
It's just a joy to talk about anything else but politics, which dominates all other discourse.
I guess it's a testament to how the OG English-language voice actors did such an incredible job, that in almost every case the translation voice actors are trying to mimic the original actors interpretation of the characters.
I also have a ton of questions about the internationalizations, but they're probably @vivziepop.bsky.social / @samhaft.com questions…
I love languages, and even though I don't speak a word of Turkish, have recently been obsessing over the Turkish "studio recordings" that were posted on youtube
eg: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9-Y...
No access to IG, so I don't know if my question there.
I wish I knew who is interviewing who in advance so I could forward questions there, so when they're "on duty" as it were.
(For the curious: "Has Amir listened to any of the other radio demons from the other translations, and thoughts?")
I asked perplexity to convert a simple C app to C++ for review, and it had this *glorious* quote in its text:
"Below is a minimal C++ tool that is the moral equivalent of your original program: it parses a translation unit and prints function signatures from the main file."
A **MORAL** equivalent!
It leaches bone, can cause electrolyte imbalance, etc...
