Agreed there's a sense of do what you're comfortable with (and safe with). I also don't have my own table saw only having used other peoples with supervision so felt safe. I like seeing more than one way of doing things because it shows a sense of ingenuity 🙂

Yea I was travelling the right way as after looking into it that came up a lot. Another tip I got was not putting the bit all the way into the router which also helped but by this point my confidence was shot so I relegated the router to the back of the tool pile.
I do like Bosch tools. Also have a cheap Bosch sander that refuses to die despite me abusing it for many years now. The router I had was a Screwfix cheap brand that I never loved. Maybe down the line I spend that extra £5 😂
Looking at your nice round corners I would guess you have mastered the router unlike me.
I always hated routing and ended up selling my router. The bit kept slipping out and jumping ruining whatever I was working on. Either cheap router or bad user. Likely the latter. How do you route these rebates? With my hate for routers I would probably try any other tool like table saw 😅
Cut them short to take the magnets off then add a frame around to get the size back?

Workshop front cladded with cement fibre board. This stuff is a pain to cut.

50mm conduit comes up through foundations slab with a 6mm armoured cable.
There's a big conduit going from the house to the workshop with the idea being if I need chunkier cable down the line I can push through a new one.
Yea they're metric. Most things are with a few things like road distances and speed in mph. Some wood dimensions are in metric but just converted so we get some not so nice round numbers in mm.
Thank you! Yea I have tried my best to follow people who are making neat stuff and not just posting US politics. Even with that I find myself having a scroll through who I follow and thinking "haven't seen anything from x in a while" to go to their feed and see loads of stuff I seemingly missed.
A few rough ideas scribbled down but the problem is I'm not yet fully sure on everything I want to do in there. Some woodworking for sure but also maybe a place for a 3D printer or CNC. And maybe a small electronics bench. I see lots of people doing lots of cool stuff and want to try it all 😅
Yea so from what I gathered when looking into it planning permission wise all I really needed to do was have a height under 2.5m & for building regs be under 15m² internal floor space. There are a few other points too which I noted at plans.northbayworkshop.co.uk#planning-per...
3 months ago I was made redundant. It has been fantastic as it gave me the time to build this but I start a new job tomorrow so expect progress to slow down.

Bought a gift card from a local book shop today for my wife's birthday and it's made from wood. Found that mildly interesting 🪵
Galvanised L bracket tied down to the foundation slab. Then at the top screwed into the timber walls. OSB was cut away where we attach to leave a more flush finish for plasterboard to go over later.
80mm concrete bolt as the foundation slab it 100mm and I don't want to go though the DPM on the bottom. 3 40mm stainless screws to attach the bracket to the wall. And a masonry bit taped at 80mm with blue tape so I don't drill too deep into the slab.
After uploading my YouTube video on the workshop dwarf wall one of the questions none of my 8 subscribers asked was hows that going to be attached to the timber walls? Well here's the answer anyway... Big galvanised L bracket, 80mm concrete bolt and a few stainless screws.

First furniture purchase for the workshop. Nice to have somewhere to sit. Take a good look as this is the best condition this chair will ever be in.
Also still on the hunt for a very used leather armchair on gumtree for when I want to sit but not scoot about on wheels.
Front view of the workshop. Walls insulated and wrapped in a breathable membrane. The membrane is just attached using a staple gun. White soffits and fascias around the roof. And rubber laid over the top still to be glued down.
Front and back soffits have vents to allow air to pass through the roof above where insulation will be. This will let any moisture that gets there make its way out. I went for white soffits and fascias after finding out the anthracite grey ones I was originally going to get are massively more expensive.
Side soffits don't have vents. The gaps where soffits meet will be covered with joining caps to hide the gaps.
Inside we can see the OSB deck which is tongue and groove glued together with external wood glue.
#workshop #build progress. This week got roof OSB up, wall insulation, breathable membrane, soffits & fascias and laid rubber roof. Letting the creases flatten out a bit before I glue it down tomorrow.

It's just under 15m² internal floor space which is the max I can get away with in the UK without needing building regs approval.
Big progress on the #workshop #build today. Walls and roof joists went up. Quick progress thanks to my dad coming over for the day to add a pair of hands and big mitre saw for the roof joists.

Nice bit of kit there. Puts my tiny slow cooker I use for pulled pork to shame.
One side wall up, back wall built but needs to be lifted into place (waiting for some extra hands as it's heavy) and started on second side wall now.
