I should have said what kind of cucumber and tomato to help you out. Oops. The long English one or the Persian cucumbers will work. Beefsteak tomato are my favorite, but use what you can get. Can't beat this cold sandwich in the middle of summer heatwaves. :) <3
Cucumber and tomato with Japanese Kewpie mayo with a pepper and salt when the veggies were fresh from the garden on a hot July/August day got me through so many summers in my past.
