just curious, morning thoughts: what's the e2ee -- interoperability story? if i make an encrypted doc/data/whatever with one app (and that is stored interoperably via atproto for e.g) how can i then see all that through another client?

- a "what's happening near you" page that draws from a shared lexicon everyone near me pushes to. maybe even gets event data from instagram / luma / eventbrite who knows?!

i keep thinking about how much potential ATProto has when we look beyond big world use cases. there's so much more we do online than interact publicly (or semi-publicly!), and if we can make ATProto the default way to build for what i'm call "small world internet", i think a lot of magic can happen

been thinking about this for private (permissioned!) data interop, and if built right, i think it can be an anti-surveillance measure that forces us to build collectively to make it work --
e.g. how do we standardize lexicons without knowing what's in eachothers' records?

i'll be talking about how we're trying to get away from skeumorphism (callback to @rude1.blacksky.team's talk from last year) and building for privacy-first usecases on the protocol. can't wait 🌱

will be really interesting to see what the bluesky team lands on and how it differs from @habitat.network! we're building for small groups and they're building for the ~millions of users case.

"apps can see your data" feels like an example where different goals lead to different technical outcomes

It shouldn't, but the reality is that as long as it can, it will. Which is why data privacy (private data?) is still the biggest open question for me when it comes to ATProto.

More thoughts on that soon...
