Two options for voters in Gorton & Denton.
Greens or Reform?
β'We cannot sleepwalk into becoming a Lebanon-on-Thames. This is an emergency Writes Allister Heathβ
As a Lebanese in the UK, itβs so nice to see this racist drivel so openly expressed in the British press. Fuck you Allister Heath :)
Vote Green.
(Also maybe we should clean the Thames before pretending that adding anything to it makes it worse.)
People unfortunately still do not understand how rapidly the UK has moved to Blood and Soil campaigning as a mainstream norm and how much worse it can still get.
The media, the major parties and politicians all pour fuel on the fire daily, and ultimately it all empowers the fascists.
Why then did the BBC edit out the homophobic slur aimed at Alan Cumming but not the n-word aimed at Delroy Lindo and Michael B Jordan, leaving them humiliated and John Davidson facing considerable backlash?
People have been left horrified after John Davidson revealed that there was a microphone in front of his seat at Sunday night's BAFTA Film Awards. Picture: John Davidson a middle aged white man with green bow tie Dominic Lipinski / Getty Images As I'm sure you are aware, the British ceremony has been under fire in recent days after 54-year-old John, who has Tourette syndrome, loudly shouted the n-word at Sinners stars Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo as they presented the first award of the evening.
The more you learn the worse it gets, It seems like the BAFTAs did this on purpose for a viral moment or at the most charitable reading, to raise awareness. l
Billionaires arenβt just a net bad for society, they are decimators of society and communities. Their attitude of βless for you, more for usβ was always going to eventually become βnone for you, all for usβ.
The rich are fully aware of climate catastrophe. But their solution for climate catastrophe is to get rid of the rest of us by the way. Thatβs why tech bros are arguing robots are less resource consuming than humans so openly.
Picture of a smiling Indonesian woman with long hair and a blue and white shirt, holding up the lilac book ANNAH, INFINITE, next to an enby Vietnamese person with red hair and a black leather jacket. Behind us are red and grey curtains.
Southbank Centreβs inaugural Indie Night was Truly Lovely. A full house for indie pubs!
Tx hosts Okey & Eliza, fellow readers Deepa, Vigdis & Tim, access staff & Tilted Axisβ Phuong Anh (in pic).
The love ANNAH, INFINITE was shown by the audience at signings afterwards means Everything. Makasih!
ππΌ @hamzajahanzeb.co.ukβs recent βNo, Not Even Waterβ:
βIt is time the UK book trade recognises Muslim employees exist beyond Ramadan & starts making meaningful accommodations for those fasting in an industry built around long lunches & after-work drinksβ

What I find amusing about being a Sensitivity Reader is the warped idea we are "cancelling" authors.
If that was the case, surely every editor in a trad publishing house is being a Chief Cancellator of sorts - no?
You don't like your words being tinkered with? Self-publishing may be 4 u bbz x
THE ONLY PARTY I WOULD TRUST AS OTHERS HAVE DONE US DIRTY, MISLED US, DISGRACED US.
I can't explain to you all - in 2026 - how we need you allies to show TF up.
I'm not as overtly "politically", nor chronically online as I once was. But I request you all oppose fascism.
It's here

Wonderful news.
Congratulations Aasiya and the Leicester team! ππ
Next stop: Gorton and Denton! π
Something the Government want you to forget...
The betting has the Greens at 1/2 and Labour at 5/1. If you actually want to keep Reform out, rather than making a rhetorical point, you can only rationally argue for Labour to step aside.
Hats off to all the team involved - if only there were tickets but this entire run is sold out so check out returns on the day, or banquette seats released at 12pm every day. 5/n

Leslie Travers' set too is exquisite in this Royal Exchange Theatre 40th Anniversary revival directed by Selina Cartmell. 4/n
ROAD premiered in 1986 at the Royal Court Theatre and his works have been translated into 40 languages. SHOBNA GULATI does a splendid job playing three richly observed characters with sheer gusto. 3/n
Cartwright has such a wonderful way with words, weaving the realism of the 1980s with such verve giving a truthful lens to the history of Lancashire and the politics of the time. 2/n
If you'd have told fifteen-year-old me that I'd get to meet Jim Cartwright, whose play 'Two' I performed at Sixth Form as part of my A Level in Drama and Theatre Studies, I'd have been jumping with glee. 1/n
This is free to ready, by the way gang:
For some, today is the first day of Ramadan: I wrote a deeply personal piece about how workplaces often overlook their Muslim employees, and do them a huge disservice.

Unsolicited writing advice, no.9:
When naming characters, it helps to consider: their age; their background; their culture; what part of the country they come from; their parents (why did they choose that name?). Same goes for non-British characters - (not all Frenchmen are called Serge :-)

β

The Government have u-turned on ID Cards.
