I hate watching longplays/walkthroughs of games where half of the time you're in a long, boring, repetitive boss fight. Extra burn when the boss fight is long, repetitive and boring *even though* the walkthrough is by someone who has *already mastered* the game. ☠️

And in some cases it might not even be possible to have an older version of a third-party subcomponent installed at all (i.e. xcode and its ecosystem which goes in hand with the fact that you're currently not able to build and publish apps for archaic iPhone devices).
And it's basically not possible to “freeze” whole configuration because quite often it's not possible to obtain older versions of third-party subcomponents or installing them requires a cascade of downgrades for OS-specific libraries (or even a specific OS version).
This issue goes hand in hand with another one: the overall fragility of contemporary software – nowadays it's often built upon a whole ecosystem of subcomponents which all need to be in specific versions, like VS you've mentioned.
Also, not to brag, but I’ve done enough progress on “Wright Files: Egerton’s Pickle” in the last couple of months that I don’t need to work anymore on the game this year and the demo is still going to come out in 2026. Stay tuned!
