The IRENA Council discussed progress of the #energytransition. The world added a record 582 GW of new capacity in 2024, proving the strategic value of #renewables in enhancing energy security & economic stability.
Delighted to welcome 430 delegates from over 90 members to the 29th IRENA Council in #AbuDhabi. Under the leadership of the #CostaRican Chair, this meeting will generate the strategic insights & innovative ideas to advance the global #energytransition powered by #renewables.
In 2024, renewables represented over 91% of all new power. Yet this pace falls short to reach #3xRenewables by 2030. The next round of #NDCs is a pivotal opportunity for countries to raise ambition and align with the 1.5°C goal.
