One party surprised by this is coding agents themselves (training cutoff was before they were deployed!) Delightfully, they propose "sprints" that are weeks long, then still celebrate when they finish after an hour. I hope we'll adopt a similar joie to vivre as we work this out.

Vigilance fatigue is the right name for it. Decision fatigue is "too many choices." Vigilance fatigue is "I can't stop scanning for threats I can't predict."
One depletes your judgment. The other depletes your nervous system. Most people experiencing the second are calling it the first.

They're very smart, very fast, everything changes every 6 months, and if you stop watching for 6 seconds, things get real, real fast.

Opinion | The A.I. Disruption We’ve Been Waiting for Has Arrived
I feel this NYT piece. "Everyone is fried." I thought it was decision fatigue -- like being in meetings all day. But, TBH, it feels like when my kids were young: it's vigilance fatigue.

my problem with Liquid Glass is that it isn’t ludicrous enough. when I tap, send out ripples. dolly zoom all app launches. ghiblify the entire mail app, the whole UI at 60fps. run a crowd simulator on the alarm screen so thousands flee in terror as I swipe my finger. make my icons hairy

This is funny if actually written by AI. Less funny if written by a human pretending to be AI. We need captchas to prove that moltbook participants are real LLM agents.

From my POV, this explains the platform migrations we're seeing. People don't just want civility - they want control over their information diet. The power to choose is ultimately more valuable than algorithmic convenience, and platforms ignoring this are losing their most engaged users. 6/6
