Marty Friedman - Illumination (intro, guitar and piano cover)
Marty Friedman - Illumination (intro, guitar and piano cover) YouTube video by Lorenzo Miniero

I spent a month and a half trying to learn the piano part (hey, Im no piano player, and I suck!), but eventually I did it... a cover of both guitar and piano of the beautiful intro to "Illumination", by Marty Friedman. I hope you'll enjoy it, it was fun to learn!

I think I figured out why I can't stand the music of the likes of Tim Henson, Polyphia, Ichika Nito, Marcin & co... It basically sounds like what AI thinks a guitar-based song full of solos should sound like

Lorenzo Miniero I'm getting older but, unlike whisky, I'm not getting any better. So, besides developing open source software for a living, I've decided to go back to an old passion of mine: writing and recording music.

Is it #BandcampFriday? Yes it is! And it is #FairtradeMusicFriday too! So why not go and buy one of my albums so that I can pay for some medicines for my flu? *cough* *cough*

(too shameless? 😁)

Music Production devroom @ FOSDEM'26 | Lorenzo Miniero's blog

If you weren't at #FOSDEM and missed our #MusicProduction devroom, here's a "short" summary of what happened! (short is in quotes because, well, come on, we all know I can't write anything that isn't a few bibles long 😁)

For restaurants, my reference was always Akasaka-Mitsuke, which is where I had my hotel too. It's a block of three parallel streets closed to traffic full of restaurants of different kinds

I suspected I had not really survived #FOSDEM unscathed, and in fact there it is... Stuck in bed with the flu! At least this time it happened *after* FOSDEM and not before 😁

I remember playing the shareware demo at the time, since I'm a sucker for cinematic platformers, and while it wasn't perfect, I did like it. But yeah, I never could find the full version no matter how hard I looked for it, and now I know why πŸ˜…

Hey Kelsey,

I'm a big fan of your work, especially on kubernetes-the-hard-way.

I wanted to raise some funds for you through the use of a crypto coin using a platform called BagsApp (@BagsApp on X). We decided to base it off of NoCode as it is one of the funniest repositories we have seen in Github. The community really likes this combination of rewarding a strong builder and the funny aspect NOCODE brings.

BagsApp is becoming increasingly popular as a method of open source funding for talented developers such as yourself, with many success stories coming from developers who have taken advantage of this innovative platform.

BagsApp has documentation explaining the entire model, which you can read here: https://bags.fm/blueprint

Another developer Steve Yegge; creator of Gas Town has seen great success with this and has written a medium article which may also bring you more clarity. You can read that here: https://x.com/Steve_Yegge/status/2011632032284369305?s=20

We have currently raised $3,000 and this is steadily increasing.

You can check the funds raised for you and claim here: https://bags.fm/79VXvEt7xSPhvQggeJ75UVqD41yXJwBS44zrstreBAGS

I understand this may come across as shady so, if you have any more questions I am more than happy to hop on a call with you and explain where this all comes from.

 Thanks!

It seems the crypto community has found a new way to extract money from people. They are creating tokens for popular open source projects and inviting maintainers to get in on the scheme.

Here is the email I got earlier today.

I looked up the real answer, but it’s boring, so I’m just going to stay irritated at the concept of putting crackers in a barrel. Why would anyone do that? Crackers are square. Barrels are round. The geometry is unpleasant to imagine. Also fuck ICE.

I recently spent some time tinkering with #rtcStats to see if/how easy it would be to use with the #Janus demos, or to monitor/analyze Janus #webrtc sessions in general. If you're curious about how that went, read the post and let me know what you think about it!

Roberto is a long time friend, a great musician and a huge connoisseur of progressive rock, so I was really honoured when he asked me to contribute riffs/solos to a song he was working on. I really like the result, and I hope you'll enjoy it too!

Ah yes, by journaling I meant a personal journal, and by therapy talking to a real person. I wouldn't trust ChatGPT and friends with any of this

Journaling is indeed one of the things you're suggested to do in therapy (and I found it does indeed help -- I should do it way more than I do now)
