YES! It looks like I'll be running Cascade Crest 100M this year!
Do you even know me, Strava?
Not sure about the rest of the year, but the first half is looking fun!
Beyond this, I'm currently in the lottery for Cascade Crest 100M, which is in July. I think the lottery drawing is pretty soon, so π€. If that doesn't work out, I'm considering Crazy Mountain 100M in Montana.
In April, I plan to run the Gorge Waterfalls 100K. This is a Western States qualifier and I'm really hoping to get a lottery ticket. I know the math for the lottery isn't in my favor, so getting a ticket every year counts.
I'm so excited about this years racing season!
My first race is Fort Ebey Kettles Run in Feb. It's a 26 mile trail run I'll use to get some volume and have fun.
Then it's the Badger Mountain 55k in Mar. This is another build leading up to my first "A" race.
Running an npm install && npm run dev in Cursor AI's Composer
Also useful is to then ask Composer to run the app so that it can monitor logs and output.
Running an npm test in Cursor AI's Composer
absolutely love using Cursor AI's Composer to run tests, evaluate the output, and then propose fixes. It's such a great workflow.
And no, typically I've broken something. This initial success was not the norm. π
Any other Cursor users out there? Any tips or tricks you've used to make it more effective?
One thing I've done is create a info.txt file in the root of my project where I put key information that I want the Composer to "remember" in future conversations.
I absolutely love writing code and build apps with Cursor. It's incredible how advanced the Composer has become. It not only has the ability to not only make changes but execute commands has guardrails. It's like pairing with a dev who's smarter and more experienced than me.
Okay, there was a fair amount of excitment around this tool, so I went ahead and made some updates and got a new home for it:
racetimeinsights.com
Analyze athletes who've completed both your previous race and your target race to better predict your finish time. #BuildOnDO #running
I've been running in the Nike Alpha Fly 3 for awhile now, and it's the most amazing shoe I've ever run in. I'm absolutely in love. Almost no plantar fasciitis pain and it just feels awesome.
Thank you! I thought it a fun idea, and I learned a bit about Puppeteer and DO along the way! I also plan to run that second race this year too, so it has helped me plan!
I'm sure there will be some rough edges. If you try it and like it, but hit an issues, please file an issue and I'll take a look!
In fact, I'm planning to write up a tutorial on building web scrapers with Puppeteer + Docker + DO App Platform. It's a neat and fun use case that I think folks will enjoy.
π§ Built with Node.js + Puppeteer for web scraping, containerized with Docker, and deployed to @digitalocean.com App Platform. Really nice example of running headless Chrome in a containerized environment.
The code is open source and available here: github.com/wadewegner/r.... Currently supports ultrasignup.com and pacificmultisports.com race results.
Had a ton of fun today building a tool on @digitalocean.com to help runners estimate their finish times for upcoming races by comparing athletes who've completed both races.

Laying bricks in 2025!
Got up early and got my HIIT ride, easy run, and sauna all done before 7am. It feels good.
And yes, six weeks until Fort Ebey! π₯
After a year-long journey, I'm officially a UESCA-certified ultrarunning coach! πββοΈποΈ Wrote up my thoughts on the certification process, what I learned, and my key takeaways from the experience.

I work full-time, have three busy kids, and train as a runner. I'm not sure I'll have the time to try coaching for quite some time, but I'd eventually like to give it a go.
I started the program largely as a way to learn and become a more knowledgable running. I know it's helped, even as I started working with a coach myself.
I've been slowly working on completing the Ultrarunning Coach Certification from UESCA for nearly a year. Today, I took the final exam and passed. π
thank you!
what iβve heard from folks like David Roche is that super shoes can reduced mechanical load and potentially let you recover faster. also that theyβre fun to run in.
iβm going to try the Alpha Fly 3 for my road and the Terrex Agravic Speed for trail runs.
Err, I mean lottery. Either way, hereβs hoping!
I just signed up for the Cascades Crest 100M Ultra waitlist! π€

that was amazing! happy birthday @matty.wtf!
Iβve been reading & hearing about super shoes and the benefit they bring for #training. As I start to come back from this foot and hip injury, Iβm interested in getting some super shoes to reduce the impact of #running.
Any recommendations? Iβd love to find something that doesnβt break the bank.
Is anyone an active Zwift rider (or runner)?
I've got 2 running injuries, so I've jumped fully into Zwift riding. Did my first ride yesterday. It was fun, but I need a better setup. It was tough to track everything happening in Zwift off my phone.
Any suggestions for a good and cheap tablet?
