Impacts of the Republicans’ Budget on Colorado’s 7th Congressional District: Cutting Medicaid - ending medical coverage for 1.1 million Coloradans, including 431,800 Colorado kids. 111,650 people in CO-07 get health care through Medicaid including: 41,601 children in CO-07; and 12,000 seniors over the age of 65. Cutting SNAP - taking away food assistance from 61,000 people in CO-07 who count on SNAP so they don't go hungry. Ending free school lunches - 206,293 Colorado kids will no longer get a dependable meal. Increasing health insurance premiums - 32,000 people in CO-07 who get medical coverage under the Affordable Care Act will see their average premium rise by $240 per year – a 10% increase. Making college more expensive - making it harder for 8,201 students in CO-07 who were awarded Pell Grants to pursue a higher education.
Direct impacts to Colorado's 7th Congressional District and Park County from the Republican passed budget guidance (not yet negotiated with Republicans in the Senate)
They need the $ they have budgeted (for more tax breaks for the wealthy!) coming from slashing SNAP and Medicaid.
