Oban alone is worth switching stacks for. I haven't seen an as powerful, easy to run and polished background job processor in any other stack.

Phoenix is yet again the most admired web framework! πŸŽ‰

Elixir fell from 2nd to 3rd place of most admired language because another BEAM language, ✨Gleam✨ took over the 2nd spot this year! Congrats Gleamers!

I am sick and tired of having to justify β€œWhy Elixir?” so I decided to write down all of the reasons why in one spot!

Why Elixir is not just a good platform for modern development, but a great one!

The Gap Through Which We Praise the Machine My current theory of agentic programming: people are amazing at adapting the tools they're given and totally underestimate the extent to which they do it, and the amount of skill we build doing that i...

Why do some have a shit time with LLMs for programming while others love it?

To succeed, the latter group tacitly creates tons of scaffolding and gain weird new skills. While it works, this posts explains how doing all that is an incidental consequence of bad interaction design in coding AI agents.

2010, companies we'd talk to about switching to GitHub: "NO WAY WE CAN USE YOUR THIRD-PARTY SERVICE, OUR SPECIAL CODE IS SO PRIVATE AND IMPORTANT"

2025, every engineer fuckin around: "oh whatever i'll just oauth every repo in our org to whatever AI is hip this morning"

Today, we’re announcing the preview release of ty, an extremely fast type checker and language server for Python, written in Rust.

In early testing, it's 10x, 50x, even 100x faster than existing type checkers. (We've seen >600x speed-ups over Mypy in some real-world projects.)

L'occasion de rappeler que la déforestation induite par l'extraction est bien davantage le fait de l'extraction d'or et de charbons que des métaux pour la transition. Que les discours "anti-mines" se concentrent contre la transition est très étrange.

Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.

Bear with me for a second while I try to explain.

20 years ago we were suing teenagers for millions of dollars because they were torrenting a single Metallica album and now billionaires are demanding the free right to every work in history, so that they can re-sell it.

The law only ever serves capital.
