At least when it comes to HD2 I don't think the game is particularly skill-centric, it's more like Risk of Rain 2 in my eyes, and they should lean more into making fun weapons rather than optimizing clear times, which by being PvE and not PvP, it doesn't matter anyway

Yeah having choices will always be more fun than not, an example of bad balancing to me is when devs simply limit choice and player expression by homogenizing everything, specially in games with some level of player skill.

I'd say a margin of 10%-20% difference between a regular build/item and an optimized one is a good compromise, as long as that extra is not required to clear. It's basically MMO balancing.

"Given the opportunity, players will optimize the fun out of a game" is a phrase by Civ game designer, and it holds true even for balancing items. There will always be a "best" choice, best loadout, best build. Best devs can do is make everything viable to beat the content presented.

I uninstalled basically when you unlock the gacha, I did a lot back then during the beta so I wasn't looking forward to it again. Plus they haven't changed all the awful dialogue or story, so yeah it's an easy skip lmao

The gacha mechanics in Endfield take the worst of Genshin and puts a spin on it that makes it worse, all with the stinginess that comes with this system. Instead of leaning into their playerbase, they tried reaching for the GI/ZZZ/Wuwa players, but will satisfy nobody.

Is the game pretty and visually stunning? Absolutely, they nailed the visual presentation. But that's it, presentation. They somehow forgot how to write after years of high praise from AK, and they forgot what made AK stand out from other gachas. It's simple yet complex gameplay and easy of entry.

Unfortunately, after years of waiting, hype building, alphas, betas and everything in between, AK Endfield is another game that both suffers from Genshification and a lack of vision into what makes a game fun and unique. FF15 combat with the most dull story and dialogue does not keep people awake.

It's another step that shows a bigger picture for the platform, it's not just that making hate content is easier than ever, it's also a step into a world where X is almost all AI content. AI images, AI replies, AI queries, AI edits. Ultimately a platform that's completely synthetic, a dead internet.

Honestly I wonder if X will finally die by its own weight after this "Edit Image" nonsense. Someone really thought that letting people tweak any images you post over there, without consent or filter, and no option to opt out was an amazing idea.

And yes this is a thing that is actively happening and has been for a long time, it’s surreal to me how easy it’s being to find proof and yet people buy these tattoos thinking the shop owner made them or was allowed to use them.

Let’s say there is a known Booth tattoo maker that has been actively stealing drawings off the internet as part of “their” designs, like straight up copy and paste, and you keep seeing people using his tattoos everywhere. Is this enough to make you remove them from your avatars? Or do you not care?

And SO MANY PEOPLE fall for it too, because nobody wants to spend more than a couple seconds looking at a piece of art, nobody wants to question anything, we're too used to high speed dopamine scrolling that just a few more seconds of research would spike people's boredom.

I used to not really care too much, but the more it has been happening, the more annoying and saddening it's getting to find artists and art on X that is either AI slop accounts larping as real artists, or artists using AI with their own skills to pump a high volume of pieces.
