I definitely enjoyed it after starting the second time, I think you have to be in the right mood for the chaos.

Just finished that, it's excellent, enjoy!
Well I sure read a lot of women authors! Katharine Kerr has been my favourite for years, excellent epic fantasy and scifi. Have now discovered Robin Hobb so maybe a tie for favourite now? Read lots of Veronica Roth and VE Schwab too.
4/ Hugely recommended!
3/ I'm a sucker for unexpected reunions, even if that one ended up so bittersweet. And redemption stories, but didn't like how THAT one ended.
2/ It took awhile for me to get the 3 scenarios straight, very much helped by the symbols at the start of each chapter, would be harder with an audiobook.
Cover of The Strength of the few by James Islington, showing a black pyramid in a desert landscape with white figures flying around
Five stars for this one ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐! 1/ I just loved it. Difficult to review without spoilers... the MC finds himself in 3 very different scenarios with major challenges to deal with. I loved how he dealt with them differently depending on his knowledge of the circumstances. 📚🪐💙
I prefer print but ebooks are wonderful things for travelling with! Off travelling tomorrow & found 3 good library ebooks to take without having to go out & find them. I have quite a few I've bought via Kobo & Kindle too.
1. Last book was The Strength of the Few by James Islington, excellent book, absolutely loved it! Takes awhile to get the 3 scenarios straight but worth it. 2. Now reading A Language of Dragons by SF Williamson. Can't quite get into it yet, we will see. 3. A Knight of the seven kingdoms next maybe?
That looks good, must check it out!
The TBR challenge continues to go well! Up for March: a book from one of my favourite authors, (The Strength of the few), and a debut novel (Deryni rising). Cheating a bit, just finished reading one, and I doubt a novel from 1970 was really the idea of the other. But getting thru TBR! 📚🪐💙
Just saw that! A huge sprinkling really 🏔❄️
Up late last night finishing The Strength of the Few by James Islington, SO good. Love how a good author makes me care about the characters, even if I am still pissed at him killing off one of my favourites. Sooo... how long until the sequel??
Loved The Raven Scholar!
Haven't got to those Veronica Roth ones yet, must put them on my TBR!
Oooh that sounds good, I'll have to get that one!
Dammit, James Islington!!! I hate it when an author kills off one of my favourite characters... Though I also know it's only really good authors who make me care this much. 📚🪐🐉💙
Going to Taranaki tomorrow! Hope it's looking as pretty as this, and hope Awakino gorge is open this time. Had a long drive to nowhere a couple of weeks ago!
Read that one last year, amazing and emotional book. Quite different from the epic fantasy I usually read. Such an excellent writer.
Good morning! Started The Strength of the Few by James Islington. Having to make a concerted effort to keep the 3 scenarios separate by really enjoying it so far! Have been looking forward to reading this one for awhile :)
I track what I read, have never thought to set a goal though. I WAS surprised at how many I ended up reading last year - a book every 4 days apparently! I track so I know what I own in what format, but also keep a wishlist I can refer to in bookshops. I've been using LibraryThing, very useful.
Watched the first episode last night, seemed pretty good if a bit melodramatic as those kinds of shows were back then! Will try a few more & see how I go.
Thanks Mark - will check out the original movie!
I've never watched any of the Stargate series, is Stargate SG-1 an OK place to start? Is it a good watch? 🪐🐉📺
Gong Xi Fa Cai!!
Had one of these for the first time this week. Seriously freaky.
It's been a terrible week but now its Friday night, I have wine and berries and a good book. Maybe chocolate soon. This is good. I can appreciate this.
Just finished Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch, which was a fun murder mystery/paranormal mix; now rereading The Will of the Many by James Islington before reading the sequel. Really enjoying it again, even though it's only been a year!
Always fun to discover good authors I haven't read yet! Only about 3 chapters in but love it so far.
Just started Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch, good start!
