I just watched this again and I'm even more confounded by Burt's reaction. He is the moral center of this movie. He's a principled artist, he's devoted to his wife, he genuinely loves his found family of misfits.

To most Americans this has come out of nowhere, and no compelling rationale has been given. I could see, if it all wraps up quickly, it not causing significant further damage to Trump's already crummy political standing, but if it drags on, it drags him further down with it
It's absolutely believable that this stupid war has been launched to prop up the failing MAGA government, Putin and Netanyahu have benefited politically from similar quagmires, but Trump is just too dumb and lazy to put in the smallest bit of effort to bring the country along with him
normal caveats about wealth measures vs GSP aside, we should not be surprised that the elite impunity political environment has been good economically for the people on top, and that all of this is not solely about getting to say slurs during business hours
