'Evening, Killarney.' (1941) Speaking to an art critic in the 1930s, Paul Henry said: 'What always strikes me about the Irish landscape is its otherworldliness. There's an air of mystery about it ... you feel that anything may happen round the corner.'

Although I havenโ€™t been able to identify the sculptor of the marble Virgin and Child, the six paintings on copper that depict the Life of Our Lady were made by Patrick Pye to mark the cathedralโ€™s 200th anniversary in 1999. 2/2

Tucked away in the northwest corner of the Cathedral of St Mary and St Anne is a little gem of a space.

The tall, octagonal Lady Chapel is light-filled and animated by the intentions and flicker of votive candles. 1/2

A highlight of early Hellenistic Taranto is the stunning terracotta group of Orpheus and the Sirens, recently returned from the Getty to Italy. While striking, their original setting, possibly on a funerary monument, remains a mystery.

The Curragh.' (1914) This painting by Irish artist Paul Henry is full of drama, accentuated by the use of a high horizon and tall waves as if to remind us of the danger facing the crew of this small boat. It brings home the harsh life of the islanders on Achill off County Mayo.

A three-dimensional artwork from a UCC BEES student, showing a large, black bird's head with open beak situated above a scene of dirt with tall, thick, leaved plants growing out of it, one of which has a striped caterpillar sitting on a leaf, with a mouse and green beetle on the ground next to the stalks of the plants.

An artwork by a UCC BEES student showing a side-profile of a strawberry plant, seen from both above and below ground. The plant above ground is vibrantly green with leaves, strawberries in various stages of growth, and a couple of flowers and buds; below the ground, the roots are stretching in all directions. The plant may have some kind of fungus or disease though, as three of the many roots have black blotches on them that are starting to spread up to the base of the plant, and one of the smaller, lower branches that has the blotches is also browning in the leaves.
