Who needs planes, trains, and automobiles when you have boats, trains, and velomobiles (bikes)?
Music TeleVision?
What is there to forget?
damn, you hear car-free and you think maybe they mean walkable and environmentally friendly. but no. fucking air taxis
Yeah, at least the stopping at crosswalks is nice, I know that’s the law in England but I don’t know whether it is in the US or my state. But that’s at least what I try to do when I have to drive, since it seems unreasonable that cars should keep going indefinitely while peds wait indefinitely
I love it when drivers actually yield right of way correctly, like this. Although I do get a little peeved when they try to yield even when they have the right of way, like when I stop at a four way stop after them, or when they’re going straight and I’m turning left, since confusion is dangerous
Did you stub it recently? And is the toe box in your shoe wide enough for all your toes?
Auf der Vorderseite? Oder was?
It’s a perfect day to bike to work and call out House Republicans while doing so for passing a bill through the Natural Resources Committee — in literally the dead of night — to sell off public lands like the Arctic Refuge to the highest bidder.

Hey, you can’t forget the gas tax! Assuming 2022 numbers (because that’s where I found avg mpg) for IL gas tax, that’s 2.9¢/mi, which at 0.01% would be 2.9E-6¢/mi for bikes. If you biked 14,263mi/yr, (avg for cars), that would be a whole extra 4.1¢/yr, totalling 5.6¢!!
I’ll definitely have to check this out sometime, I’d love to try out a cargo bike. Glad someone is doing this in Michigan
It’s nice that your rural roads there are only 25mph (not sure if people follow it though). Around where I live in Michigan a similar looking road would probably be 50mph.
“I can’t say much more. But I can say goodbye!” so poetic
Protestors holding signs, some on bicycles, Henry Ford Community College 1970
Earth Day 1970, Henry Ford Community College students protest at Ford Motor Company. One sign reads "Pedal Power Can't Pollute" and another says "We Demand Equal Air".
Fun, although odd that there would be two different parsec measurements listed, since parsecs measure distance, not time
It’s so great how often there is bike parking squeezed as close as possible to the wall to minimize the number of people that can actually use it
would be a real shame if someone poured concrete down a few of those bollards so if someone were to ram them with their cars… not that i’m suggesting that… just that it would be a real shame…
Can waxed chains not get wet or something?
me
A screenshot of a paragraph in this story that reads. "“Cyclists” are not a unique species of urban resident; they are simply people who decide to bike instead of using another mode. (In North America, that usually means driving.) People’s willingness to travel on two wheels largely depends upon infrastructure. Only the hardiest will cycle on fast-moving roads that lack protected bike lanes; slower streets and abundant cycle paths can entice many more people to ride. As bike advocates often note, estimating the demand for an unbuilt bike lane by counting the riders on dangerous roadways is like planning a bridge by estimating the people swimming across a river." The last sentence is highlighted.
